Kentucky moved to rein in executive power: Should Colorado do the same?

By Cory Gaines | Commentary, Colorado Accountability Project An intriguing idea out of Kentucky... I usually stick to Colorado issues, but this idea out of the recent Kentucky legislative session struck me as worth sharing. Since I live in Blue Colorado, the idea of Republicans having a supermajority (and will enough) to push their legislative priorities through, including “tearing through” a series of vetoes by the governor caught my eye. Per the article linked first below, this is the case in Kentucky. The Republican-supermajority legislature there recently overrode a whole lot of Governor Beshear’s vetoes. If you’re interested in Kentucky politics, you can read up on the list, but the one that I want to focus on is shown in screenshot 1 from that article. ...

Trump Flexes Political Muscle as Key Republicans Change Votes on Venezuelan War Powers

By Alexander Bolton and Al Weaver | The Hill Senate Republicans on Wednesday defeated a war powers resolution to block President Trump from using military force “within or against” Venezuela after two Republicans who voted last week to advance the measure reversed their votes and joined their leaders in quashing it. Sens. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) and Todd Young (R-Ind.) voted on Wednesday to support a point of order against the resolution after coming under intense pressure from Trump, who called for their ouster from the Senate after they defied him last week. Their sudden change of heart about the resolution underscores Trump’s tremendous ability to wield his influence over GOP lawmakers on big votes.   The Senate voted last week to dischar...

Margolis: A victory for constitutional clarity as Justice Barrett shuts down Jackson’s activist dissent

By Matt Margolis | Commentary, PJ Media Justice Amy Coney Barrett has gotten a bad rap lately for siding with the leftist wing of the Supreme Court on a few cases, but if you ever needed a reminder of why ACB was such a pivotal addition to the Supreme Court, look no further than her latest majority opinion, which brutally destroyed Ketanji Brown Jackson for her moronic dissent in Trump v. CASA, Inc. In a 6-3 decision that handed President Trump a major victory, the Court put the brakes on runaway district judges issuing nationwide injunctions — an abuse that’s become the left’s favorite tool for stalling any policy they dislike. Jackson’s dissent veered into unhinged territory, and she wildly accused the administration of asking the court for “permission to engage in unlawful beha...

Garbo: Biden deserves compassion—but who lied to keep control?

By C. J. Garbo | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice First, let’s say what should be said: cancer is brutal. No matter the person or politics, a diagnosis of aggressive, metastatic prostate cancer is devastating. President Biden is a husband, a father, and a human being.  No one should go through this lightly, and anyone with a shred of decency should extend basic compassion to him and his family as they face this battle. But that human sympathy must not excuse institutional deception.  Because while the President now fights a very real and serious illness, the American people are left to confront an even more insidious disease: deliberate dishonesty from those in power. They told us he was fine. Not just “managing” - but vigorous, “fit for duty,” “in excellent ...
