Trump Administration Exposes Billions in Foreign Funding to US Universities

By Steven Richards | Just the News Early in his second term, Trump directed the Education and Justice Departments to enforce federal laws surrounding the disclosure of foreign funding on U.S. campuses after what he viewed as lax enforcement during the Biden administration. With a new tool publicizing foreign funding to U.S. universities, the Trump administration has fulfilled an early promise to end secrecy around contributions from other governments and to ramp up public scrutiny of such contributions. The data show that the top ten contributors provided nearly $63 billion in foreign funding to higher education institutions. Several of these governments are close U.S. allies and partners, including the United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.  Problematic cont...

2020 Georgia Election Questions Persist as Fulton County Admits Rule Violations

By Natalia Mittelstadt | Just the News Five years after the 2020 presidential election, GOP-led Georgia is still facing repercussions from Fulton County’s issues, as the state is also under scrutiny by the Justice Department for voter roll maintenance. Georgia continues to face election integrity issues as more information regarding the 2020 election has come to light, while the state pushes back against federal oversight. Last month, Fulton County informed the State Elections Board that tabulator tapes were not properly signed after the 2020 election, in violation of state regulations, Atlanta News First reported. Also, the county explained that it had misplaced other tabulator tapes and documents from that election. "People are taking this very serio...

Feds threaten takeover of Colorado wolf management amid compliance dispute

By Miles Blumhardt | The Coloradoan Colorado is now facing a potential federal takeover of its wolf reintroduction program. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service will take over management of wolves in Colorado unless the state adequately addresses compliance issues under its memorandum of agreement with Colorado Parks and Wildlife, according to a letter sent from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Brian Nesvik to Lauren Clellan, Colorado Parks and Wildlife acting director. The letter, dated Dec. 18 and obtained by the Coloradoan through an open records request, states if a complete report of all gray wolf conservation and management activities that occurred from Dec. 12, 2023, to the present is not supplied within 60 days of the letter, the U.S. Fish and Wildlif...

Obama’s Refugee Machine Has Led to Massive Fraud and the Looting of America

By: Tyler Durden, Authored by X user Saggezza Etern | Commentary, Zero Hedge Obama’s Billion-Dollar Minnesota Fraud Empire The Heist You Paid For Imagine waking up tomorrow to find your bank account empty. Every dollar you saved for your children’s tuition, your retirement, your security—gone. Now imagine looking out the window and seeing the thief driving a Porsche bought with your money, laughing as he waves a government-issued thank you note. This is not a hypothetical scenario. It is the reality of the American taxpayer in the wake of the single largest COVID-era fraud scheme in the nation’s history. While you were locked down, masked up, and worrying about the price of eggs, a sophisticated network of fraudsters in Minnesota was siphoning off a quarter of a bill...

Colorado Budget Strain Deepens as Autism Therapy Audit Threatens $60 Million Medicaid Repayment

By Jennifer Brown | The Colorado Sun Therapy centers countered that an abrupt rule change could result in long-term harm for children with autism. Colorado may have to repay the federal government from $60 million to $150 million after auditors found the state Medicaid program has been covering care by uncredentialed behavioral technicians for children with autism.  The financial hit comes as the state is already dealing with a $1 billion budget shortfall and cuts to Medicaid benefits that have affected multiple programs for people with low incomes and disabilities.  Colorado is among several states whose programs were audited by the Office of the Inspector General. The audit is not final and the results are not yet public, but officials at the ...

Federal audit finds housing benefits paid to 221 deceased recipients in Colorado

By Ryan King | New York Post The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is investigating whether Colorado providers helped nearly 3,000 people swindle taxpayer money from Uncle Sam, The Post has learned. The investigation comes after an internal HUD audit found that benefits were granted to 221 dead people, while another 87 were otherwise ineligible. The department also said that another 2,519 beneficiaries will need to undergo additional verification. “From deceased tenants to individuals receiving HUD housing benefits who were never supposed to, the Department has questions for HUD-supported housing providers in Colorado, and we expect prompt answers and enforcement action,” a HUD spokesperson told The Post. Kansas case and new immigration report deepen scrutiny of Colorado’s stance on SAVE

By Jen Schumann | Rocky Mountain Voice A Kansas mayor’s felony voting case is renewing national attention on how noncitizens end up registered to vote and what states can do to prevent it. The issue is gaining urgency as federal agencies expand the Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements program, known as SAVE, while Colorado and several other states reject federal data-sharing efforts even as federal law requires them to maintain accurate voter rolls. A Kansas case shows the stakes of mistaken registration The case driving the discussion is unfolding in Coldwater, Kansas, where Mayor Jose “Joe” Ceballos-Armendariz, a noncitizen, has been charged with voting in at least three elections. The state’s case rests on Kansas election statutes that classify noncitizen voting as...

Secretary Griswold’s Reckless Assault on Election Integrity

By Michael J Badagliacco, “MJB” | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold's recent statement rejecting the U.S. Department of Justice's request for voter registration data is not just misguided; it is a blatant act of partisan obstruction that undermines the very foundation of the American Republic. By declaring that the DOJ "can take a hike" and lacks any "legal right" to this information, Griswold has elevated political theater over her sworn duty to uphold federal law. Her rhetoric, laced with unfounded accusations of election subversion, dismisses a straightforward federal effort to verify citizenship and ensure only eligible Americans vote. This is not about "sensitive" data or federal overreach. It is about enforcing the law to p...

Fake Identities Still Approved for Obamacare Subsidies, Watchdog Warns of Systemic Failures

By Nicholas Ballasy | Just the News "We were able to get subsidized insurance for fake enrollees. We also found some issues with enrollees' Social Security numbers that could indicate identity fraud. The program's fraud risks were last assessed in 2018, even though the program and its risks have since evolved,” the GAO reported A newly released report from the Government Accountability Office reveals that “fraud risks in the advance premium tax credit (APTC) persist,” despite earlier warnings and reforms.  The APTC is a “subsidy that the government pays to insurance companies to make premiums more affordable for eligible Americans under the Affordable Care Act.” CMS paid nearly $124 billion in APTC in 2024 alone, covering about 19.5 million enrolle...

State Leaders Should Pause Colorado Wolf Effort After Series of Blunders

By The Gazette Editorial Board | Commentary, The Gazette Five years after Coloradans voted by a razor-thin margin to reintroduce wolves to Colorado, they are right to look at the job state officials and agencies have done and ponder whether this a dog that just doesn’t hunt. Amid criticism from pro-wolf advocates and anti-reintroduction ranchers alike, is it past time for a moratorium? The latest bungled bit in the state’s fumbling reintroduction saga is the “stepping down” — demotion, reassignment, whatever public-relations-friendly term you prefer — of former Colorado Parks & Wildlife Director Jeff Davis. Before the end of last month, and amid the holiday news haze preceding Thanksgiving, the Colorado Department of Natural Resources announced Davis “stepped down” and wa...
