States Rally Behind Foster Care Plan That Expands Religious Family Participation

By: Hannah Bates | The Federalist The Trump administration is reversing Biden-era rules that tossed Christian families from foster care, reducing homes available to desperate children. Montana became the 25th state to join President Trump’s “A Home for Every Child” executive order initiative Monday. The $11.4 billion project under the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) aims to address the national foster parent shortage, partly by creating opportunities for religious Americans the Biden administration blocked due to pro-queer policies. First Lady Melania Trump has made helping foster children one of her top philanthropic priorities. The ACF reports that “for every 100 children entering foster care, only 57 licensed foster hom...

Polis Administration Faces Lawsuit Over Keeping Minors In Custody After Judges Ordered Release

By Marissa Ventrelli | Colorado Politics Colorado officials are facing a lawsuit alleging the state kept minors in juvenile detention for days or months after judges ordered them released, largely because appropriate foster or community placements were not available. Two minors facing juvenile delinquency charges sued Gov. Jared Polis and the director of the state’s Department of Human Services, alleging the state is incarcerating children despite judges’ orders to release them to the community. The state refused to comment on the litigation, though a spokesperson said the safety of children under its care is a top priority. The lawsuit, filed by a coalition of civil and disability rights advocates on behalf of defendants known only as Isaac N. and Tony S., alle...

Vermont Drops Requirement To Affirm Gender Identity For Foster License Approval

By Greg Piper | Just the News Vermont settles two lawsuits before appeals court can strike down policy conditioning foster placements, renewals on affirming gender ideology. "We must ban" removals and transitions against parents' will "immediately," Trump says. Solidly Democratic states are coming to the realization that excluding foster-care applicants based on their refusal to treat children as the opposite sex may not be a wise choice.   Vermont gave up its policy of scrutinizing would-be and current foster parents' religious beliefs for inconsistency with gender ideology to settle two First Amendment lawsuits before the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals could rule, issuing sweeping new guidance last week that protects applicants from violating their conscien...

SB 24-008 has expedited the process of placing about 4,500 Colorado children in foster care

By Lindy Browning | Contributor, Rocky Mountain Voice Sue Hanson, a Montrose County commissioner, knows something most people don’t know. She knows how many children in Colorado are in foster care, and that these children have not been the priority they should be. She has been working behind the scenes - and not so behind the scenes - looking for ways to support these children and the families that step up to care for them when they are no longer safe in their homes. To that end, she and her fellow commissioners, Keith Caddy and Roger Nash, have approved $1.5 million dollars to assist organizations that support these children and their caregivers. The money is being distributed equally to Kin-Connect, Hope and Home, and Brad's House. “Foster care is a priority to Sue, and she h...

Growth of Obama-era foster care policy unmasks transgender orthodoxy’s inherent threat to parental rights

By Tyler O'Neil  | Daily Signal A groundbreaking new report from The Daily Caller exposes the backstory behind the Biden-Harris administration’s regulation on foster care rules for children who identify as LGBTQ, and underscores the inherent threat that transgender orthodoxy poses to the parental rights of moms and dads who reject the idea that children can be “born in the wrong body.” In April, the Administration for Children and Families at the Department of Health and Human Services released a final rule for agencies to fully implement on or before Oct. 1, 2026. The HHS agency’s first released a version of the rule in September 2023, and updated it in response to public comment. Katelynn Richardson and Megan Brock, writing for The Daily Caller, reporte...
