Colorado Federal IT Worker Stole $1 Million From Federal Agency Through Fake Invoices

By Logan Smith | CBS Colorado A 55-year-old Colorado man who worked for the federal government was sentenced to prison this week for fraudulently diverting approximately $1 million from his employer for personal use. James Montoya, of Lakewood, was sentenced Tuesday to 41 months behind bars. He was also ordered to repay $1,122,009.47. Montoya was employed as an information technology specialist for the United States Geological Survey, which has offices in Lakewood. He was hired by the agency in 1996 and started working in an IT position in 2002.  A year later, Montoya began falsifying expense reports in order to shift money to personal PayPal accounts, per case documents. USDA Pushes Reforms After Study Links Liquor and Tobacco Shops to SNAP Fraud Risks

There's no way to determine how much alcohol, tobacco, or other "non-compliant" goods have been sold nationwide. At least 20 states refuse to share data with the feds. After a joint operation by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) found “mass patterns” of marriage and other immigration fraud in Minneapolis, the agency’s director says denaturalization and prosecutions are on the table. New York Post A driver’s licensing office in Kentucky is in hot water after a whistleblower revealed a staggering inside scheme to issue drivers licenses and permits to illegal immigrants without them taking a test or going through a Homeland Security background check.According to a whistleblower complaint filed in April, two employees at one of the offices allegedly pocketed cash from undocumented drivers in exchange for a license by outfitting them with fake documents like birth certificates and social security cards. GOP panel demands Treasury records on ‘potentially fraudulent’ donations through Democratic fundraising platform

By Josh Christenson | New York Post A Republican-led House committee fired off a letter to the Treasury Department on Friday that demanded access to any Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) as part of a new investigation into a Democratic fundraising platform’s “potentially fraudulent” donations. House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) wrote to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, asking for all SARs between Jan. 1, 2023, and the present that involve the political action committee ActBlue. The suspicious activities may include “money laundering, counterfeit credit/debit card, credit card or debit card fraud, false statements, wire transfer fraud, or identity theft,” Comer said.
