For Erika Kirk, a husband’s life ended by violence he seemed to foresee—yet faith anchored him

By Robert Draper | The New York Times In an interview, the wife of the conservative activist Charlie Kirk said she had implored him to wear a bulletproof vest. But she sees divine work in his death. During the past 11 days of heartache and anger, Erika Kirk has found herself returning, as if by gravitational pull, to a single moment. It is the recollection of how, on what turned out to be the last night of Charlie Kirk, her husband, he was too excited to sleep. “His adrenal glands were just going off,” she recalled during an hour and a half interview on Thursday, eight days after Mr. Kirk, 31, one of the nation’s pre-eminent conservative influencers and the founder of the youth activist group Turning Point USA, was gunned down while debating students at Utah Valley University. ...

Universities silent after Charlie Kirk martyred for free speech on a college campus

By Evita Duffy-Alfonso | Commentary, Fox News Campus free speech concerns grow after conservative commentator Charlie Kirk’s assassination and the deafening silence from academic leaders When a man is publicly executed for his views on a university campus, one would expect institutions of higher education to respond immediately — if only to confront the chilling effect such violence unleashes. One would expect them to reassure students that their campus remains a place for free inquiry. One would expect them to guarantee that future speakers of every political persuasion are not only welcome but safe from mortal threat. Yet following the gruesome assassination of conservative icon Charlie Kirk, universities have remained largely silent. This silence is a far cry from the deafening...

President Donald Trump declared Antifa a terrorist organization on Wednesday, describing them as a “sick, dangerous, radical left disaster;” however, it’s unclear at this time if or how the president will make the designation official, and what it all means for the group. The Anti-Defamation League, a group that fights “all forms of antisemitism and bias,” defines Antifa as a “decentralized, leaderless movement composed of loose collections of groups, networks and individuals." President Trump team outlines crackdown on left-wing NGOs with ties to violence after Kirk assassination

By Elizabeth Troutman Mitchell | The Daily Signal The Trump administration will only investigate left-wing groups with a provable tie to violence following the assassination of conservative leader Charlie Kirk, an administration official told The Daily Signal. The focus of investigations will be Antifa-like groups involved in the online conspiracy to assassinate Turning Point USA founder Kirk on Sept. 10, the source said. This comes after Vice President JD Vance and White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller on Monday discussed plans to “go after” leftist nongovernmental organizations due to Kirk’s killing. “We’re going to go after the NGO network that foments, facilitates, and engages in violence,” Vance said. “We are going to channel all of the anger that we hav...

Four House Republicans block effort to censure Ilhan Omar over Charlie Kirk comments

By Elizabeth Elkind | Fox News House lawmakers voted to table the resolution before they could weigh the measure itself The House of Representatives voted along bipartisan lines on Wednesday to table a resolution to censure Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., over comments about Charlie Kirk. Four House Republicans voted with Democrats to table the legislation, effectively blocking it from receiving its own House-wide vote. A vote to table is a procedural mechanism allowing House members to vote against consideration of a bill without having to vote on the bill itself. The measure was blocked in a narrow 214 to 213 vote. The four Republicans who voted to table the measure are Reps. Mike Flood, R-Neb., Tom McClintock, R-Calif., Jeff Hurd, R-Colo., and Cory Mills, R-Fla. McClintock...

Colorado Gas Stove Labeling Law Faces Court Challenge

By Anusha Roy | Denver7 DENVER — The debate over the gas stove inside your home is headed to court. Lawmakers passed a new Colorado law requiring safety labels on new gas stoves being sold. The law would require labels in both English and Spanish. Advocates say this would help people understand the impact of gas stoves on the air quality inside their homes. On the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) website, the agency shared: “There is evidence that particulate matter (PM), nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, benzene, formaldehyde, and methane can be released into indoor air from gas stoves.1" "According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, indoor air pollutants can build up to levels that may affect people’s health if the spa...

Campaign Signs for Elizabeth School Board Defaced With Hate Symbols

By Anna Coon | KDVR Fox31 ELBERT, Colo. (KDVR) — Three candidates for the Elizabeth School Board woke up Tuesday to a disturbing sight: their campaign signs had been vandalized. David Fletcher, a current school board member and one of the candidates whose sign was defaced, said he wasn’t surprised to see the damage. The signs, which he shares with two other conservative candidates, were all marked with swastikas early Tuesday morning. “I think that they are just some people that are filled with hate,” Fletcher said. “Who knew I was going to be painted as a Nazi just for running for school board?” Fletcher says tensions in the local political scene have likely increased due to the district’s ongoing court battle with the ACLU over books it tried to remove from school libraries. ...
