Rye Evacuations Continue As Aspen Acres Fire Nears 100,000 Acres

By: Savannah Eller and Nick Smith | The Denver Gazette The wait has no end in sight for evacuated residents of Rye, near where the Aspen Acres fire continues to burn in rough, tinder-dry terrain to the west. While about 6,400 people have been able to return to communities like Colorado City, Wetmore and Beulah, Pueblo County Sheriff David Lucero told attendees at a community meeting Tuesday night that conditions were not yet safe for an additional 3,000 displaced people. “I wish I had the answer,” he said. Huerfano County discovers ballot scanning error stemming from vendor

By Norishka Pachot | Fox 21 News The Huerfano County Government announced on Monday, Oct. 28 it discovered an error in some ballots that resulted in a scanning issue. Huerfano County said via Facebook the error came from the vendor, Fort Orange Press. They further explained some of the ballots received in the mail had damaged timing marks, causing a scanning issue. According to the County, the issue was detected recently and there is a process in place to ensure every ballot is scanned and every vote is counted, reiterating every ballot returned is being processed. In Huerfano County, voters will be getting second round of ballots

By Mark Craddock | World Journal All registered voters in Huerfano County will be receiving new primary election ballot packets in the mail by Friday or Saturday, Clerk and Recorder Erica Vigil said Tuesday, to correct an error in every primary ballot, both Democratic and Republican, throughout the county. Vigil encouraged those who have not yet voted to destroy their original voter packet and wait for the corrected ballots. For those who have already voted, they have the option of re-voting the corrected ballot or letting their previous ballot stand.  Regardless, she emphasized that all votes will be counted.
