Marines confront civilian in LA during DHS deployment—Northern Command backs authority

By Joe Saunders | Western Journal Marines on duty guarding a federal facility in Los Angeles on Friday briefly detained a man who later said he’d tried to go under a yellow boundary tape and was asked to halt, according to news reports. While the man apparently posed no threat and was later released, according to Reuters, the incident did prompt the arm of the Defense Department in charge of security for the continental United States to confirm the Marines were acting under appropriate legal authority in the first known detention related to their Los Angeles deployment. Active duty forces “may temporarily detain an individual in specific circumstances,” a spokesperson for U.S Northern Command told Reuters. A video of the incident from Reuters is below: https://twitter....

‘We followed the rules’—Why Trump’s immigration message is winning over immigrant voters

By Martha McHardy | Newsweek New data shows a growing number of immigrant voters are backing Donald Trump and his hardline immigration agenda—marking a dramatic reversal from past elections. Why It Matters The Trump administration has pledged to carry out the largest mass deportation in U.S. history and has conducted numerous ICE raids, some of which have swept up people with proper documentation. Trump's aggressive stance on immigration has resulted in widespread protests, especially in Los Angeles, where Trump authorized the deployment of 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles after reported violence against law enforcement, specifically ICE agents carrying out deportation raids in the city. But despite the unrest, data suggests that Trump's messagi...

Congressman Jeff Hurd backs ICE enforcement: “We need to follow the law”

By Wylee Mitchell | KJCT8 News GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KJCT) - “I don’t think this is a republican issue or democratic issue. This is an issue of economic security, national security, and we need to follow the law,” Congressman Jeff Hurd said. Despite ongoing ICE protests across the country, the Department of Homeland Security said they will continue to crack on illegal immigration. Congressman Hurd represents the 3rd District in Colorado, which includes Mesa County. He said removing criminals who are in the country illegally should be a top priority. “Being here in the United States illegally is a is a violation of federal law. But I think what we’ve seen is certainly a focus on the individuals that are here illegally, that have committed additional crimes.” While we may not...

Critics warn Polis’ immigration law oversteps Constitution, ignores federal authority

By Savana Kascak | Complete Colorado DENVER—Despite repeated claims that Colorado is not a “sanctuary state” for illegal immigration, Gov. Jared Polis on May 23 signed a bill into law that both reinforces and expands Colorado’s existing protections for immigrants living in the country illegally. Senate Bill 25-276, Protect Civil Rights Immigration Status was a top priority for majority Democrats in the state legislature as they continue their attempt at isolating Colorado from the Trump administration’s deportation policies, with the bill picking up a remarkable 46 prime and co-sponsors on its way to passage. Expanded protections Colorado state law already limits interaction and information sharing between local and federal officers. However, SB 276 extends this measure to proh...

"I want to be present and stand up to what I think is really wrong," Bonnie Lloyd from Broomfield said. Crowds gathered to protest against federal immigration enforcement and ICE raids, joining protests across the country — namely Los Angeles — to call for an end to detentions and deportations. "I'm doing my part as an American citizen and someone who loves our country to do what I can," Ellen Keckler from Conifer said. Garbo: Sanctuary policies led to chaos—and now they’re blaming ICE

By C. J. Garbo | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice The chaos unfolding in Los Angeles isn’t just disturbing, it’s the natural result of years of political cowardice and ideological extremism. The riots erupting in response to ICE’s lawful enforcement of deportation orders are not acts of civil disobedience. They are acts of defiance against the rule of law itself. And the blame lies squarely at the feet of Democratic leadership in California, who declared Los Angeles a “sanctuary city,” emboldening illegal activity while abandoning their sworn duty to protect American citizens. Let’s be clear: no elected official has the right to nullify federal law to score political points. Yet that’s exactly what California’s leadership has done - undermining immigration enforcement, encourag...

Activists protest deportations at Aurora ICE facility

By Vicente Arenas | Fox31 AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — A group of people marched late Monday to the GEO Group’s contract holding facility in Aurora, contracted by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, to show their solidarity with ICE protests in Los Angeles.  Several groups called for people to gather for what they called an emergency march and protest. The organizations made their way to the GEO ICE facility, a little less than a mile from the march’s starting point. That’s where they held a vigil for immigrants who have been detained, including activist Jeanette Vizguerra. Several different Colorado organizations say they want to call attention to the immigrants being detained in Los Angeles. Araseli, an Aurora resident, said her husband is detained in th...

After Boulder firebombing, DHS revamps ICE tip line to stop future attacks

By Bryan Chai | The Western Journal After a horrific anti-Semitic attack last weekend, the Department of Homeland Security is “revamping” the way Americans can help prevent any future atrocities from happening again. On June 1, a peaceful pro-Israeli gathering calling for the continued release of hostages held by Hamas terrorists was violently attacked. A maniac wielding incendiary devices — the weapons have been described as both “flamethrower” and Molotov cocktail-like — attacked the group in Boulder, Colorado, injuring 12, two badly, in the process. Reports began circulating that the alleged perpetrator, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, was an Egyptian national who had overstayed his visa, making this a matter of national security, on top of it being a seeming hate crime. Due ...

President Trump sends in the National Guard as LA riots spiral after ICE raids

By Tyler O'Neil | Daily Signal UPDATE: Los Angeles Police Chief Jim McDonnell said in a Sunday evening press conference that the violence was “getting increasingly worse and more violent.” “This violence that I’ve seen, it’s disgusting,” McDonnell said, according to Fox News. “It’s escalated now, since the beginning of this incident. What we saw the first night was bad. What we’ve seen subsequent to that is getting increasingly worse and more violent.” “We’ve seen people with hammers … breaking the bollards behind the federal building and taking the rocks. If you will, or pieces of concrete and throwing them at officers,” McDonnell added. “We’ve had liquid—of who knows what, description thrown at officers. There’s no limit to what they’re, doing to our officers,” he added. ...

ICE raids uncover felons, gang members amid L.A. protest chaos

By Landon Mion, Bill Melugin | Fox News Federal sources highlighted some of last week's arrests in the Los Angeles area, which included violent and drug offenders Federal immigration authorities said some of the migrants arrested in the Los Angeles area last week had criminal histories that included assault and drug offenses. Nearly 45 people were arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement on Friday alone, as officers swept through several locations, including two Home Depot stores, a store in the fashion district and a doughnut shop, prompting protests that continued through the weekend against immigration enforcement operations in which officers raided businesses to arrest workers. The weeklong tally of migrant arrests in the city surpassed 100. One man has already been ...
