Jack Smith’s failed crusade: How DOJ overreach fueled Trump’s comeback

By Julie Kelly | Commentary, Declassified Substack John Lauro, the president's criminal defense attorney in the January 6 case, describes his experience with Special Counsel Jack Smith and his henchmen in response to Smith's recent publicity tour. In the summer of 2023, John Lauro—a New York-based defense attorney at the time representing Donald Trump related to the events of January 6—met the government prosecutors leading the criminal investigation into his client. For nearly two hours that day, Lauro spoke to Special Counsel Jack Smith and his team in response to Smith’s target letter notifying the former president that he may face charges for his attempts to “overturn the 2020 election.” Lauro and Todd Blanche, currently the deputy attorney general, tried to dissuade Smith...

Report: Jan. 6 Committee’s Massive Data Sweep Targeted Conservatives and Trump Allies

By John Solomon and Jerry Dunleavy | Just the News More details continue to emerge about the collusion between Democrats in Congress and Biden's weaponized DOJ in targeting Trump. Congressional investigators collected a stunning 30 million lines of phone data mapping contacts between conservatives and the Trump White House in the name of investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol breach, a massive dragnet that raises civil liberty concerns about the lack of limits on the ability of lawmakers to snoop on Americans' private phone calls.    The mountainous collection of phone records were revealed to the FBI led by Chris Wray in late 2023 by former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, a GOP member on the Democrat-run House Jan. 6 select committee. The cache was offered to the bureau on the eve of th...

Kelly: What the Nation Still Doesn’t Know Three Years After Mar‑a‑Lago Raid

By Julie Kelly | Commentary, Declassified with Julie Kelly No photo other than his mugshot is more representative of the unprecedented lawfare against Donald Trump than the photo of alleged classified documents discovered during the nine-hour armed raid of Mar-a-Lago on August 8, 2022. On one hand, Democrats, the news media, and even some NeverTrumpers (clears throat, side-eyes National Review) believed the iconic picture proved Trump had absconded with secret government records and carelessly left them around his Palm Beach mansion, endangering national security. Trump supporters, on the other hand, viewed the photo with disgust, a reminder of just how far the Biden regime and his FBI would go to finally put Trump in handcuffs. But nearly two years later, the same Dep...

Justice Department says it plans to release only part of special counsel’s Trump report for now

By The Associated Press, via Breitbart The Justice Department said Wednesday that it will release special counsel Jack Smith’s findings on Donald Trump’s efforts to undo the results of the 2020 presidential election but will keep under wraps for now the rest of the report focused on the president-elect’s hoarding of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate. The revelation was made in a filing to a federal appeals court that was considering a defense request to block the release of the two-volume report while charges remain pending against two Trump co-defendants in the Florida case accusing the Republican former president and current president-elect of illegally holding classified documents. Aileen Cannon, the Trump-appointed judge presiding ov...

Fani Willis ordered to give watchdog all communications with special counsel Jack Smith

By Greg Wehner  | Fox News A Georgia judge ordered Fulton County District Attorney Fani Williams to hand over records related to her communications with special counsel Jack Smith and the U.S. House January 6 Committee after failing to comply with a request under the Open Records Act (ORA). The nonprofit group Judicial Watch filed a lawsuit against Willis in March after her office claimed it did not have any documents and communications on file between Willis and Smith or Willis and the January 6th Committee. But it turned out her office did have communications, and on Monday, Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney ordered Willis to produce them within five business days. McBurney also determined in his ruling that Willis violated Georgia’s open records act b...

Judge Chutkan grants Jack Smith’s request to cancel further proceedings in January 6 case

By Andrew C. McCarthy | National Review Federal lawfare is indeed winding down, as we discussed earlier this week. Judge Tanya Chutkan, the Obama appointee who is presiding over the 2020 election interference case against President-elect Trump, issued a brief order on the docket today, vacating all proceedings scheduled in the case, including any briefing on pending issues. She ordered that on or before December 2, 2024, Biden-Harris DOJ special counsel Jack Smith must file “a status report indicating [the government’s] proposed course for this case going forward.” The course for the case is to dismiss it. Judge Chutkan’s order was a result of a brief application by Smith’s staff, unopposed (naturally) by Trump’s counsel, stating: READ THE FULL STORY AT NATIONAL REVIEW...
