Crank earns endorsement of Donald Trump in southern Colorado’s 5th District race

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Jeff Crank, the Republican nominee in Colorado's 5th District in the U.S. House, has received the coveted endorsement of former President Donald J. Trump. "Jeff is a Conservative Warrior who has incredible support from his community," Trump began the endorsement on Truth Social. Opposing Crank in the general election is Democrat River Gassen. The winner of the race will follow Rep. Doug Lamborn, who is retiring from office. The Trump endorsement in the 5th District was earned in the Republican primary by GOP Chairman Dave Williams. "Despite an all-out effort to hide Joe Biden's failing health, Democrats turned on him when they saw they could lose power," Crank wrote Sunday on Twitter/X following Biden's announcement he would suspend his campaign for re-election, but finish out his first term in office. Mr. Biden has endorsed Kamala Harris for the Democratic Party's nomination, although some key and powerful players in the party have not. By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice In Colorado's 5th District, both Republican and Democratic registered voters will be asked to weigh in on contested races for their party's nomination to the general election ballot. U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn announced earlier this year his decision to retire at the conclusion of his term, setting up an open-seat election for the central and southern Colorado district. Ballots began hitting the mailstream Monday in the state's primary election and must be mailed to all registered voters by Friday. Election Day is June 25.
