LAKEWOOD, Colo. — The driver of an SUV that slammed into a Mesa County School bus carrying members of a Grand Junction wrestling team was traveling over 90 miles per hour, or 52 mph over the posted speed limit, 2 seconds before the impact, according to an arrest affidavit from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. The driver of the SUV, 22-year-old Andrew Logan Miller, from Denver, was hospitalized with injuries as a result of the December 6 crash and later arrested on a list of charges. Jefferson County Sheriff releases timeline of SRO’s location during Evergreen shooting

By: Brooke Williams | Fox31 DENVER (KDVR) — The school resource officer assigned to Evergreen High School was not there at the time of the shooting earlier this month, raising questions about their whereabouts throughout the community. After the shooting on Wednesday, Sept. 10, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said during a press conference that the officer assigned to the school had left about two hours before shots were fired. Evergreen High School previously had a full-time School Resource Officer; however, that officer has been on medical leave, and the responsibility was being shared between other deputies. By Heather Willard | KDVR FOX31 DENVER (KDVR) — More details are emerging about how a 16-year-old student carried out a shooting last Wednesday at Evergreen High School, leaving two other students with critical injuries and killing himself. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday that the first deputy was dispatched to the school at 12:24 p.m., “shortly after calls began to flood 911.” The agency said deputies arrived at the high school within two and a half minutes, and that during that time, the 16-year-old shooter had fired multiple rounds inside of Evergreen High School and injured a student. “While deputies responded quickly, the actions taken by teachers, staff, and students inside the school undoubtedly saved lives,” the sheriff’s office said. “They relied on th...

(KDVR) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says a full-time school resource officer will be assigned to Evergreen High School when students return to that campus after a school shooting there. The Evergreen Parent-Teachers-Students Association had been hoping for a full-time officer. “I understand they may not be able to prevent a tragedy, but we need to have some deterrents in place. Student Shares Harrowing Story From Evergreen High Shooting

By Heather Willard | KDVR FOX 31 DENVER (KDVR) — Hundreds of students were impacted Wednesday when one of their classmates brought a gun to campus and shot two students and himself at Evergreen High School. Freshman Sam Fisher was in the school’s band room when the lockdown began, just days into his first year of high school. “So we all kind of hid in a corner,” Fisher told FOX31’s Courtney Fromm. “We heard like the first gunshot, we were one of the first rooms that they went to.
