LONE TREE, Colo. — The City of Lone Tree is calling out the state legislature for passing laws that narrow local control, specifically in areas pertaining to zoning, occupancy limits, and land use. In a recent post on the city's website, officials stated the state is passing laws in "areas traditionally governed at the local level." Police in the Colorado city, located in the southern part of the Denver metro area, say she was murdered. (KRDO) – A Lone Tree man will serve four years in prison after pleading guilty to possessing and distributing over 200,000 images of child pornography, the 23rd Judicial District Attorney’s (DA) Office said. Following his release from prison, 28-year-old Daryl Henry Joe, Jr. will be required to serve ten years of probation. In March of 2024, Lone Tree police received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, regarding images of child pornography the agency had traced to a computer at Joe’s address in Lone Tree. Lone Tree police investigating increase in crash-and-grab home burglaries

By Rachel Saurer | Fox 31 News Over the past several weeks, the Lone Tree Police Department has seen an increase in home burglaries. In each case, suspects have gained access to the houses by breaking large windows or sliding glass doors on the rear of the house before leaving with cash, high-dollar purses, jewelry and other items. The houses generally back up to commercial property, open space, or a golf course, and as of yet, no one has been home at the time, which police said is the one positive. “That’s the bigger fear of the whole thing right, if that ever happened you know what’s the outcome of that going to be?” Lone Tree Police Chief Kirk Wilson said. Lone Tree residents protest plans to locate new 23rd Judicial District office near Heritage Hills

By Noah Festenstein | Denver Gazette Several Lone Tree residents are pushing back against one of the proposed locations for an office that will host the brand new 23rd Judicial District, which will encompass Douglas, Elbert and Lincoln counties.   The new office will also offer pre-trial and probation services. The pushback from residents is directed at locating the office at One Lincoln Station, a building inside a business park just east of the Heritage Hills neighborhood. The location offers access to the E line of the Regional Transportation District rail system and Interstate 25.
