FTC, States Sue WPATH Over Alleged Deception in Pediatric Transgender Care

By: Julia Cassidy | Townhall Physicians have been spewing false, deceptive claims about transgender care to sell pediatric transition services to parents, using the false information provided by the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Now, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), along with four other states, is suing. https://twitter.com/OffThePress1/status/2067329629094842751 https://twitter.com/AFergusonFTC/status/2067287289571450939 FTC Chairman Andrew N. Ferguson reiterated the vitality of trust in the healthcare industry, saying: Children, but especially their parents, must have complete and truthful information when making decisions to purchase medical services. For decades, the FTC has taken action against entities that make...

Texas Children’s Hospital Settlement Signals Shift in Youth Gender Care Debate

By Joshua Arnold | The Daily Signal THE WASHINGTON STAND—The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday announced a settlement with Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) in which the hospital not only committed to never again carry out gender transition procedures on minors, but also agreed to open the nation’s first detransitioner clinic and fully fund it for five years. TCH gained notoriety in 2023 when a whistleblower provided evidence that the hospital continued to secretly administer gender transition hormones to minors, even after the Texas legislature had made it illegal. “Today’s resolution protects vulnerable children, holds providers accountable, and ensures those harmed receive the care they need,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche....

Colorado Supreme Court Confronts Trans Care Dispute With Federal Funding at Stake

By Michael Karlik | Colorado Politics Some members of the Colorado Supreme Court expressed discomfort on Tuesday with having to decide whether to order Children’s Hospital Colorado to resume providing certain services to transgender children, which could trigger a “death sentence” if the federal government imposes consequences. “I’m assuming there’s no middle ground here with the federal administration, in terms of letting the patients who are already in treatment complete their treatment but just not take on any new patients for gender-affirming care?” asked Justice Carlos A. Samour Jr. during oral arguments. There is not, responded the hospital’s lawyer. “We believe that the care can be provided safely and effectively,” added attorney Patrick O’Rourke. “But ul...

Colorado Mom Urges Caution for Parents After Son’s Hormone Treatment

By Neeraja Deshpande | IW Features A Colorado mother trusted the medical “experts” when they prescribed her teenage son estrogen. Now she urges parents to reject gender ideology claims outright and reclaim authority from ideologues. But Michael had already fallen deep into the trenches of gender ideology, possibly with the help of his Denver-area school.  Thinking they would “put the brakes on this,” Burns said she and her husband took Michael to a therapist in their network at a Kaiser Permanente clinic. Unfortunately, then unbeknownst to the Burnses, Kaiser Permanente is one of the greatest offenders in the gender ideology space, having spearheaded medical experimentation on gender-confused minors both as an insurer and as a clinical provider of ca...

Malpractice ruling signals legal reckoning for gender procedures on minors

By Brian C. Joondeph, M.D. | Commentary, American Thinker A major change in the medical landscape on transgender surgeries on minors arrives, and the press is trying to ignore it. When Fox Varian stood before a New York jury last month and described the moment her bandages were removed after a double mastectomy, her words were stark: “It’s so hard to face that you are disfigured for life.”  What the jury saw was not a political mascot or an abstract policy debate, but a young woman whose body had been permanently altered during adolescence, long before she had the maturity or perspective to grasp the lifelong consequences of that choice. After deliberation, the jury awarded Ms. Varian $2 million in damages, finding that her psychologist and surgeon fai...

Medical Group Recommends Delaying Transgender Surgeries Until Age 19

By Molly Parks | Washington Examiner The American Society of Plastic Surgeons released a statement recommending doctors refuse gender-related surgeries for transgender patients under the age of 19, a move the Trump administration is calling a win. “ASPS concludes there is insufficient evidence demonstrating a favorable risk-benefit ratio for the pathway of gender-related endocrine and surgical interventions in children and adolescents. ASPS recommends that surgeons delay gender-related breast/chest, genital, and facial surgery until a patient is at least 19 years old,” the ASPS recommendation reads. The Department of Health and Human Services and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. praised the group for its recomme...

Nurses, heal thyself: A growing strain of TDS in hospitals

By Brian C. Joondeph, M.D. | Commentary, American Thinker A failure of medical ethics that seems to be spreading. Physician, heal thyself!” Jesus said to those gathered in the synagogue at Nazareth. The admonition was aimed at hypocrisy and moral blindness — a warning that those who presume authority must first examine their own conduct. Today, someone needs to repeat those words to health care professionals who have allowed Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) to corrode their ethics and professionalism. That warning applies just as much to nursing as it does to medicine. Nursing emerged as a modern profession in the mid-19th century under the leadership of Florence Nightingale. In 1893, the Nightingale Pledge codified the profession’s moral...

Lawmakers Investigate Claims Wealthy Foreigners Bypassed Americans for Organ Transplants

By Greg Wehner | Fox News More than 100,000 Americans remain on transplant waiting lists while wealthy foreigners are allegedly allowed to skip the line. House lawmakers are launching a congressional investigation into two major hospital systems amid allegations they allowed wealthy foreign patients to bypass U.S. organ transplant waiting lists, as more than 100,000 Americans remain on those lists and thousands die each year waiting for life-saving organs. Reps. Jason Smith, R-Mo., and David Schweikert, R-Ariz., who lead the House Ways and Means Committee’s oversight effort, sent letters Tuesday to the University of Chicago Medical Center and Montefiore Medical Center in New York demanding records by Feb. 10 and warning they will issue subpoenas i...

Colorado Hospitals Halt Gender Treatments for Minors After Federal Warning

By: Amy Curtis | Townhall On December 18, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. announced new and sweeping regulatory changes that would bring an end to "gender-affirming care" for minors. This includes a ban on puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgical procedures for those under 18 years of age. The reforms mean that hospitals that continue to provide such "gender-affirming care" to children would be stripped of all federal funding as a condition of their participation in Medicare/Medicaid programs. In his announcement, Kennedy said, "Doctors assume a solemn obligation to protect children. Yet doctors across the country now provide needless and irreversible sex-rejecting procedures that violate their sacred Hippocratic oath, endangering t...

Why two House bills on medical transition procedures produced different votes

By Jen Schumann | Rocky Mountain Voice The U.S. House passed two bills this month aimed at restricting federal involvement in medical transition procedures for minors. They used different enforcement tools. And they produced different voting coalitions. One bill passed without a single Republican voting against it and drew limited Democratic support. The vote on the second bill was closer, with some crossover support and a number of members listed as not voting. Republican Rep. Gabe Evans (CD-8) backed the funding restriction but rejected the felony approach. The difference lies in how each bill was written to be enforced. Two bills, two approaches H.R. 498, the Do No Harm in Medicaid Act, is a funding bill tied to how Medicaid dollars are used. It bars M...
