Conservative Justices Amy Coney Barrett and Chief Justice John Roberts joined the three Democrat appointees on the court in drafting the majority opinion. The case of Watson v. Republican National Committee involved Mississippi’s policy of counting ballots that arrive up to five days after Election Day. By Jen Schumann | Rocky Mountain Voice In a tight 218–213 vote Wednesday, the House approved the SAVE America Act and sent it on to the Senate. U.S. Rep. Jeff Crank (CO-05) voted in favor of H.R. 7296, the SAVE America Act. “American elections are reserved for American citizens only,” Crank said after the vote. “The majority of American people want secure elections, and the SAVE America Act will require proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections.” The bill makes changes to the 1993 federal voter registration law, adding a requirement that applicants prove they are U.S. citizens. By Brittany Bernstein | National Review Today’s ruling comes one month after Arizona secretary of state Adrian Fontes, a Democrat elected in 2022, revealed that a computer glitch had allowed the affected individuals to register to vote without providing proof of citizenship. The Strong Communities Foundation of Arizona, also known as EZAZ.org, sued the state under Arizona’s Public Records Law, arguing that the statute requires Fontes to turn over the list to members of the public who request it.
