Families Mourn After Experienced Hunters Found Dead In Colorado Wilderness

By Tracy Ross | The Colorado Sun Andrew Porter and Ian Stasko went missing in Rio Grande National Forest a week ago. Porter’s aunt posted on a GoFundMe page that both were found deceased. Two elk hunters missing since Friday were found dead Thursday morning by Colorado search and rescue teams, according to Lynne Runkle, the aunt of Andrew Porter, one of the missing men. “It is with a broken heart and through tears that I give you this update,” Runkle posted on a GoFundMe page she had set up to pay for the search. “Andrew Porter and Ian Stasko have both been found deceased. Their bodies were discovered earlier today by Colorado Search and Rescue. I will provide another update tomorrow. Law tied sheriff’s hands as violent suspect walked free in Weld County

By Marissa Ventrelli | Colorado Politics eld County Sheriff Steve Reams says a 2024 law required him to release a man who had been charged with attempted murder stemming from an incident in Greeley earlier this year. According to Reams, 21-year-old Debisa Ephraim was arrested in April and charged with second-degree attempted murder following an altercation between him and another man that had been captured on video. The victim suffered a brain injury and spent a “substantial” amount of time in the hospital and rehabilitation, but Reams says he is now mostly recovered. Suspect arrested after burning Charlie Kirk tribute in Northern Colorado

By Jennifer McRae | CBS News Police in Northern Colorado have arrested a suspect accused of burning a tribute to Charlie Kirk after Kirk's killing last week. Loveland police and fire officials investigated it as arson, according to the Loveland Police Department.  Police said the memorial was burned just before midnight on Saturday in the 200 block of East 23rd Street. A cloth sign draped over a resident's fence on that street read "RIP Charlie Kirk, we stand with you." In addition to the sign being burned, a rock was thrown through the rear windshield of a vehicle parked at the home, Loveland police said. The agency also has a network of security with stations and offices surrounding the stops and other private security companies. Despite these resources, RTD Transit Chief of Police Steven Martingano says sometimes it is not enough and where to place those officers can be a difficult task. “You gotta remember we go through 2,300 square miles, 40 cities and eight counties. By Heather Willard | KDVR FOX31 DENVER (KDVR) — More details are emerging about how a 16-year-old student carried out a shooting last Wednesday at Evergreen High School, leaving two other students with critical injuries and killing himself. Reps. Gabe Evans, Lauren Boebert and Jeff Crank on Tuesday issued a joint letter demanding Colorado Gov. The mayor said the $1.66 billion plan should get the city back on good financial footing. The mayor said the way he has the numbers mapped out should mean no more cuts to personnel. He did have to make some cuts to programs and technology used by city workers. “Remember, we announced first the personnel savings. Today, we will announce $77 million in savings and services, supplies, contracts. Colorado Springs to shut community center as $31 million gap widens

By Brennen Kauffman | The Gazette Colorado Springs will be closing Meadows Park Community Center in the next month and cutting 38 employees immediately in order to reduce the city's budget heading into 2026. Mayor Yemi Mobolade announced the series of cuts Friday afternoon to address what is projected to be a $31 million shortfall in the city's upcoming budget. "These measures will ensure we are delivering for residents while also committing ourselves to fiscal responsibility and a balanced budget.
