A system under scrutiny: Colorado’s election system faces clash over how it’s verified

By Jen Schumann | Rocky Mountain Voice When President Trump signed an executive order directing federal agencies to compile a nationwide citizenship list and share it with state election officials, it set off a debate in Colorado that hasn’t slowed. So what does that actually mean for Colorado? RMV asked two people on opposite sides of the issue—and got two very different answers. Matt Crane, executive director of the Colorado County Clerks Association (CCCA), says Colorado’s system is strong, continuously maintained and already uses the federal tools referenced in the order. Bob Cooper, a director with the Colorado Institute for Fair Elections, argues the system cannot be independently audited for accuracy—and that’s the problem. The divide isn’t about whether the system w...

Caldara Makes Case for Independent Oversight of Colorado Election Audits

By: Jon Caldara | Commentary, Complete Colorado This part will disappoint angry people on Twitter: Relax. Put the pitchforks down. I am not relitigating the 2020 election, or mail ballots, or even Tina Peters. But I am saying people don’t trust elections like they used to. And here in Colorado we can do a rather simple thing to reverse that. And progressives should want it most. Saving democracy is all the rage now, and as far as political slogans go, it’s a pretty damn good one. But saving democracy isn’t just about protecting Colorado from President Donald Trump, whatever that vagary means. It’s about fortifying our democratic institutions so the voters’ true will is clearly and verifiably stated. This is where I’d usually rant about how the legislature...

Georgia Pollster Says 2020 Election Questions Were Never Fully Debunked

By Matt Towery | Commentary, James Magazine Online Since the 2020 presidential election I’ve consistently stated that, while the election may have experienced fraud, it would never be quantified. I still don’t believe it will. But if I am wrong, I will debunk my own statement. One reason I could have to correct myself is if the U.S. Department of Justice can get its hands on the state’s complete voters list that existed during the 2020 election, and can use its vast resources to see how many improper voters were on that list who voted. That would be telling. I know that issue has allegedly been debunked but data experts I consider the best in Georgia tell me the list was full of vot...

GOP Canvass Board Member Declines to Sign Arapahoe Election Results

By Jacob Factor | KDVR Fox31 Results were still certified, and a GOP official had certified other county election procedures. DENVER (KDVR) — The election results in Arapahoe County were certified last week by the county’s canvass board, but not with apparent approval of the county’s Republican Party designee. Results from the Nov. 4 general election were certified across the state last week, after procedural steps including post-election audits and reviews of the audits and voter and ballot counts by each county’s canvass board. Even though election officials in Arapahoe County went through the same processes as others —and the Arapahoe County Republican Party Chair John Temple certified other stages in the election process — the Republican Party’s canvass board ...
