By: Mark Samuelson | Colorado Politics As a heatwave in the U.S. and Europe punctuated widespread calls for recommitments to solar and other “renewable” sources, U.S. Secretary of Energy Chris Wright doubled down on America’s current policy, telling a Thornton crowd on Monday that energy goals would be fixed on increasing the nation’s capacity — no matter what the source. “I went to college to work on fusion energy. I worked on solar energy in graduate school, and geothermal energy right after,” Wright told the Colorado audience. “I don’t care where the energy comes from,” Wright said. “The lights are kept on by gas, coal and nuclear. By Savana Kascak | Complete Colorado DENVER–A bill imposing new restrictions on police access to vehicle location surveillance data cleared a Colorado Senate committee on Monday, with one Democrat sponsor making no bones that the legislation is in significant part aimed at federal immigration enforcement. Senate Bill 26-070 bans law enforcement agencies from accessing databases containing historical vehicle locations without first obtaining a warrant. The bill also prohibits any sharing of data with third parties, including via Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) requests. Wallethub took a look at the median auto-loan balance of over 2,500 U.S. cities, noting that the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s latest report on household indebtedness showed auto-loan balances increased by $13 billion in the second quarter of 2025. The organization used TransUnion data as of March 2025 to divide the median car-loan debt by residents’ income in each of the cities. The median income in each city was based on 2023 earnings of individuals over 15 years old who worked full-time, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey. Suspected trafficker caught with 220 grams of meth and handgun in Thornton traffic stop

By Parker Gordon | Fox31 DENVER (KDVR) — The Brighton District Attorney’s Office has charged 44-year-old woman after a traffic stop on June 19, in which over 220 grams of meth and a loaded handgun were reportedly found at the 200 block of E. 120th Ave. The Thornton Police Department said in a Facebook post that police saw suspicious activity, conducted a traffic stop and then alerted Broomfield Police Department K-9 Rodo, who found the narcotics. The post also said that “a 44-year-old female and a 44-year-old male were both arrested and booked into the Adams County jail.” The Brighton DA’s office confirmed to FOX31 that Thornton PD’s post is related to the arrest of a woman named Suzanne Lamonaca, who has been charged with possession with intent to manu...

Video shows trooper being ‘ambushed’ while parked along highway, State Patrol chief says

By Olivia Prentzel | The Colorado Sun Authorities believe a 32-year-old Thornton man saw a Colorado State Patrol trooper parked along a median as a “target of opportunity” before he slowed down and fired multiple rounds from a semi-automatic pistol at the trooper through his window, striking the trooper in his arm. Dashcam footage released Monday showed the rear passenger window of a trooper’s truck shatter as Victor Anthony De Santiago fired shots at Cpl.
