Residents report safer passage as Lakewood tunnel is cleaned and police increase patrols

(KDVR) — A pedestrian tunnel along Wadsworth Boulevard that neighbors recently called unsafe looks markedly different less than 24 hours after FOX31’s initial report aired Monday night. By Tuesday afternoon, construction crews had painted over graffiti, cleared trash and moved along people who had been loitering, and Lakewood police officers were on site patrolling and confiscating contraband, according to observations by FOX31 at the scene. Residents say the change is obvious. “I just feel more calm here now than … two days ago,” one commuter told FOX31 on Wednesday. “Two days [ago] I rode the bus later around 5 or 6, and I did see some of that. Vandalism spree in Uptown Denver garage leaves cars disabled

By Nicole Fierro | Fox 31 DENVER (KDVR) — An entire floor of residents at an uptown apartment complex tells FOX31 they woke up to their tires slashed in their parking garage. Now, residents are left wondering who’s responsible and how they’re going to get around. “I woke up to a phone call and pounding on the door saying, ‘Hey, tires or vehicles have been dealt with and we don’t know who and we don’t know how many,’” one resident said, speaking about how neighbors at the Benedect Park Place woke her up with the news about a series of slashed tires in their garage. Aurora lands in top 5 worst-driving cities in America report

By Brooke Williams | DENVER (KDVR) DENVER (KDVR) — A recent report ranked Aurora among the top five cities with the worst drivers in the United States, and Colorado as a whole ranked in the top three states with the worst road rage. The report by finance website ConsumerAffairs looked into traffic fatality data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The administration estimates that 39,345 people were killed in crashes across the country last year, which is slightly down from 2023 and is the first time that the total fatalities have been below 40,000 since 2020. Some areas contributed to those deaths more than others, including Denver’s sister city, Aurora. The report ranked Aurora, Colorado, as the No. 4 state for the worst drivers in the nation....
