President Trump vows voter ID mandate through executive order

By Anders Hagstrom | Fox News President announces plan on social media along with restrictions on mail-in voting President Donald Trump says he plans to sign an executive order aimed at requiring voter ID in elections across the country. Trump made the statement on social media late Saturday night, saying he is also seeking other reforms to how U.S. elections take place.   "Voter I.D. Must Be Part of Every Single Vote. NO EXCEPTIONS! I Will Be Doing An Executive Order To That End!!! Also, No Mail-In Voting, Except For Those That Are Very Ill, And The Far Away Military. USE PAPER BALLOTS ONLY!" Trump wrote on Truth Social. Trump previously attempted to impose voter ID via an executive order earlier this year in a wider election integrity action. In April, Ju...

The math doesn’t lie: America’s election system is broken—and the regime desperately wants it that way

By C. J. Garbo | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice America is being held hostage - not by a foreign power, not by a virus, not by some spontaneous national confusion. We are being held hostage by a corrupt, coordinated regime that seized the machinery of government, media, and elections in order to protect its own power and suppress anyone who threatens it. President Trump’s effort to eliminate mail-in ballots and electronic voting machines is not just about election integrity. It is about breaking the stranglehold of a panicked ruling class whose crimes are catching up to them. This regime will do anything to maintain control. It has to. Because if they lose power, they lose protection. And if they lose protection, the entire house of cards collapses. Statistical Impossibili...

Cole: I support the SAVE Act—but we need to fix the documentation trap

By Shaina Cole | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice Living in Colorado for nearly four years, I’ve grown to love its sweeping landscapes and spirited community. But the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, passed by the House in 2024 and under Senate review in 2025, alongside the REAL ID Act’s looming May 7, 2025, deadline, has exposed a personal struggle that highlights a broader issue.  The SAVE Act demands photo ID and proof of U.S. citizenship—like a REAL ID, passport, or birth certificate—to vote in federal elections. I support its aim to ensure election integrity, but as a twice-divorced woman without my marriage certificates, I’m trapped. My Tennessee driver’s license, despite proving my name change in 2014, isn’t REAL ID-compliant, and even without the...

Judge blocks Trump election order despite overwhelming American support for voter ID

By Rachel Wolf , Alec Schemmel  | Fox News A federal judge in Washington, D.C., blocked a portion of President Donald Trump’s executive order on election integrity that is popular among Americans, according to a Gallup poll. The portion of the order that Judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia struck down included provisions related to requiring proof of citizenship to register to vote. Less than two weeks before the 2024 election, Gallup found that 84% of U.S. adults were in favor of requiring voters to show identification and 83% supported requiring proof of citizenship when registering for the first time.  READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX NEWS

Rahn: Trump’s election order restores faith in voting

By Priscilla Rahn | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice As a Frederick Douglass Republican and former Vice Chair of the Colorado GOP, I’ve always believed that a fair and transparent electoral system is the foundation of our nation. President Trump’s recent executive order, “Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections,” addresses critical vulnerabilities in our election system—vulnerabilities that have eroded trust and threatened the integrity of our democracy.  This order provides much-needed reforms to secure our elections and ensure that every legitimate vote is counted fairly. The executive order covers a broad range of election reforms, not just voter ID laws. While voter ID is one component, it also tackles issues like voter eligibility, mail-in vot...

Trump demands voter ID as condition for California wildfire aid

By Naomi Lim | Washington Examiner President Donald Trump named voter ID and water reforms as the two concessions he is seeking from California as Washington considers sending relief to the state as it battles wildfires around Los Angeles. “I want to see two things in Los Angeles. Voter ID, so that the people have a chance to vote, and I want to see the water be released and come down into Los Angeles and throughout the state. After that, I will be the greatest president that California has ever seen,” Trump told reporters Friday after Air Force One touched down in Asheville, North Carolina. Trump has repeatedly made unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud in California, both before and after his 2020 election loss. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE WA...

Davis: Strong voter ID laws confirm not just who you are but where you live

By Mark Davis | The Federalist The debate over voter ID typically centers on the need to prove we are who we say we are when we vote, which is obviously very important. But voter ID can and should also be used to prove we live where we say we live. This is critical because the ballots we receive when we vote are based on where we actually live — where our “habitation is fixed” as is the case in my home state of Georgia. That location determines our “jurisdiction,” which is our county and/or municipality. It also determines our voting precinct, our city and county election contests, and the school board, judicial, county commission, state House, state Senate, and congressional district races that appear on our ballots.
