Aurora police named him a suspect in carjacking a vehicle that caused Monday’s crash. The Denver Gazette has filed a Colorado Open Records Act request with the Douglas County Coroner for the man’s identification — which is a public record in Colorado.
Two victims are still recovering in area hospitals. Mia Corado, 13, is listed in fair condition, according to a Children’s Hospital spokesperson. Jordan Green, 14, is also in stable condition at an unnamed hospital, according to his uncle.
Families of the victims have posted multiple GoFundMe accounts for their lost and recovering loved ones.
The tragedy began unfolding Monday around 3:45 p.m., when a man carjacked a Toyota Matrix hatchback at the Nine Mile Station Regional Transportation District parking garage.
Less than an hour later, the Matrix lost control on Colorado 83 near Russellville Road south of Franktown, crashing into a Ford Fusion sedan head-on. The sedan carried one adult driver and five juvenile passengers.
