Initiative No. 175, backed by the coalition Restore Our Roads, would require that all transportation-related revenue be used exclusively for building and repairing roads and bridges, improving safety, conducting transportation planning and engineering, and supporting Colorado State Patrol operations. Colorado Road Funding Initiative Nears November Ballot After 180,000 Signatures Submitted

If officials certified the signatures as sufficiently meeting the threshold — organizers need 124,000 to be valid — the battle shifts to persuading voters to embrace or reject the ballot question. Packard, chief of the Colorado State Patrol, said that Monday about the 191 Coloradans who died in crashes last year without a seat belt. CDOT's release marked the launch of the state's annual Click It or Ticket enforcement campaign with five years of fatality data. The numbers have not moved. Since 2021, the unbuckled share of passenger vehicle deaths in Colorado has held between 48 percent and 52 percent each year. Through May 18 of this year, 40 unbuckled drivers and passengers have died on Colorado roads, 51 percent of all passenger vehicle fatalities. The Douglas County Coroner on Wednesday identified the victims in the crash as: Alvin Corado, 35, Toretto Corado, 8, MaKenlee Corado, 11, and Jase Green, 12, all of Colorado Springs. By: Parker Gordon, Brooke Williams | KDVR FOX31 DENVER (KDVR) — New video has been released showing two suspects inside a stolen shuttle bus that allegedly hit an Idaho Springs police vehicle, according to the sheriff’s office. FOX31 reported on the incident on Oct. 10 and on Tuesday, the Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office released new video and photos of the alleged driver behind the wheel of the stolen Clear Creek County Roundabout shuttle bus. Authorities are now asking the public for help identifying the driver, who the sheriff’s office said struck a patrol vehicle on Interstate 70, and later drove through the scene of a different crash. By RMV Editorial Board Colorado didn’t become the nation’s auto theft capital by accident. It got there through a decade of choices that treated working families’ cars like disposable assets. Lawmakers downgraded the theft of “low-value” vehicles to a low-level offense and sold it as reform. They never explained the part where families would carry the cost. Criminals understood the message right away. By Miles Blumhardt | The Coloradoan How are we doing, Colorado, now that it's illegal to hold your cellphone in your hand while driving? Since the state passed a law to ban hand-held mobile devices while driving and it went into effect Jan. 1, Colorado State Patrol has had its hands full with the new law. Colorado State Patrol has issued 94 citations to Colorado drivers who were using their cellphones or mobile devices while behind the wheel, more than half of the total number of citations issued in all of 2024, according to a Colorado Department of Transportation news release.
