Rocky Mountain Voice

This is the real insurrection

By Mark Salley | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice

What has happened to people in America? We have a contingent of people supporting and praising the law breakers.

Let’s call it what it is: insurrection.

Just five years ago this month, the left branded patriotic protestors at the nation’s capital as “insurrectionists.”

None of the protestors there that day were obstructing justice. None of them were standing in the way of enforcing the nation’s laws. No one on that day was attacking law enforcement officers, pummeling them with bricks or frozen water bottles, or for that matter, ramming them with cars. And not a single one was charged with insurrection.

Today officers of Immigration and Customs Enforcement are attacked and harassed relentlessly…simply for enforcing the nation’s laws.

Last week the New York Post reported attacks on ICE agents have spiked by more than 3,200% in a year!  According to the Post, federal immigration officers have endured “a 1,347 percent increase in assaults and a whopping 8,000 percent surge in death threats.”

This is the real insurrection…the real outbreak against authority. Thankfully, despite some leftists leaders (and their media partners) seeking to inflame violence, this insurrection is limited to a few blue states and sanctuary cities.

Yet, where is the uproar among democrats to expose this evil and bring an end to attacks against law enforcement?

It’s time for the left to stop worshipping the false god of disorder and mayhem; the god of “no consequences” for lawbreakers.

This year America is celebrating 250 years since its founding. And, thankfully the founders established a system of law and justice based on biblical truths.

If Americans want to change immigration and customs laws, the way to do it is through the election of leaders who support such change. Violence against officers who are enforcing the laws of the land…is NOT the way.

Rev. Franklin Graham is right when he warns us “our nation is in trouble” amid this volatile political climate. Graham has called on Americans to join him tomorrow at noon for a “time of prayer and repentance” for our nation. America needs God’s guiding hand today more than ever.
