America’s Next Top Entrepreneur: The Patriot Pitch Competition

By Justin D. Everett | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice

Since the founding of our nation, American innovation has transformed lives by turning bold ideas into reality. As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, this legacy is accelerating—driven by policies that prioritize American ingenuity and entrepreneurial spirit.

This spirit is embodied by the Freedom 250 Patriot Pitch Competition, a national initiative led by the U.S. Small Business Administration to spotlight and support the businesses propelling America forward. With a $1 million prize pool—made possible by a generous contribution from Clover Network, Inc.—the competition celebrates entrepreneurs who exemplify American ingenuity by solving problems, building businesses, and creating jobs.

Eligible small businesses are encouraged to apply today. If you know an outstanding small business, please encourage them to submit an application. This is an opportunity for your community to gain national recognition by supporting a deserving local business.

The Patriot Pitch Competition is more than just a contest. It is a showcase of grit, talent, and American exceptionalism. It recognizes entrepreneurs who prove that when Americans set their minds to something, whether in a garage, a workshop, a kitchen table, or on a factory floor, they get things done. This competition celebrates the innovation and ambition on Main Street that has fueled American ingenuity and progress for 250 years—and will continue to drive our economy forward.

Selected businesses will be invited to compete in a live pitch event in Washington, D.C., culminating in $1 million in prizes to honor the innovation and ambition that have powered American ingenuity for more than two and a half centuries.

To be eligible, businesses must have at least three years of operating history, generate a minimum of $100,000 in annual revenue, have utilized one or more SBA capital products, and be fully owned by U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. Eligible businesses must also demonstrate innovation within their sector, using new technologies or strategies to modernize operations and strengthen their competitive edge. Please go to sba.gov/freedom250 for detailed eligibility requirements and submission instructions.

The top 10 semifinalists will be announced this summer at the Great American State Fair. Five finalists will advance to the live pitch competition in Washington, D.C.

For 250 years, American growth has been fueled by small businesses—the job creators, risk takers, and makers. As Americans, we take great pride in the storied success of our small businesses, which helped build this great nation. The Patriot Pitch Competition puts that proud tradition front and center, shining a national spotlight on the businesses shaping America’s future.

The deadline to apply is June 10 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
