At least two new legislators will be selected Friday, Nov. 8, to Republican leadership when the Colorado House Republican Caucus convenes for leadership elections at 10 a.m.

The election was to take place in the historic Old State Library at the Colorado State Capitol, but a winter storm caused leadership to announce a move to Zoom. You can join the meeting HERE.

“We regret any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we prioritize safety,” the announcement from Colorado House Republicans reads.

The elections set the minority party’s leadership for the 75th General Assembly.

Returning to the 75th General Assembly are Minority Leader Rose Pugliese, Assistant Minority Leader Ty Winter, Caucus Chair Mary Bradfield and Joint Budget Committee indefinite substitute Rick Taggert. Not returning for the 75th session are Minority Whip Richard Holtorf and Joint Budget Committee ranking member Rod Bockenfeld.

Republicans in the 74th session were nicknamed the Mighty 19. Pending the outcome of three races, membership could grow. Republicans are leading in a tight District 50 race, and awaiting the final result in District 16 and 19 races where they are trailing.

Members of the public are invited to attend via the Zoom link.

The Colorado House Democrats will select majority leadership at noon at the Old State Library, a meeting which has a Zoom option HERE.

The Rocky Mountain Voice had not, as of early Friday, received an alert to changes for the other election: Colorado Senate Democrats at 10 a.m. at the Old Supreme Court. The Colorado Senate Republicans election is not listed on the calendar.
