CIA offers incentives to resign to whole workforce as part of Trump plan

By Ross O'Keefe | Washington Examiner The CIA has reportedly offered the same eight-month incentives to resign that most federal employees have been extended as part of the Trump administration’s attempt to shrink the government. The original order excluded the CIA and other federal agencies. A CIA spokeswoman said the move was part of an effort to “infuse the agency with renewed energy,” the Wall Street Journal reported. The CIA is also freezing hiring for job seekers who have already been given a conditional offer. Some offers could even be rescinded, the outlet said. The Trump administration is purging federal agencies that don’t align with its ideology or aren’t motivated to work under them. Elon Musk’s Department of Government Eff...

Rubio’s good start blunting Chinese influence in Panama

By Washington Examiner The selection of former Sen. Marco Rubio to become the nation’s secretary of state sent the message that shoring up Latin America will be a top priority for the new administration. Early returns suggest the selection is paying off. Rubio’s trip to Panama, his first stop as the nation’s most senior Cabinet member, delivered a significant concession from the Panamanian government. Following his meeting with Rubio, President Jose Raul Mulino, after months of denying President Donald Trump’s claims that China controlled the Panama Canal, announced that his country will not renew a 2017 infrastructure funding agreement with China.  As a result, Panama will cease participating in China’s Belt and Road Initiative once th...

U.S. will take over Gaza, ‘We will own it,’ Trump says

By Joel B. Pollak | Breitbart President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the U.S. would take over Gaza and remove debris, tunnels, and explosives left there by Hamas after the war with Israel, adding that he saw America taking a “long-term ownership position.” Trump said: “The US will take over the Gaza Strip, and we will do a job with it too. We’ll love it and be responsible for dismantling all of the dangerous bombs and other weapons on the site… and get rid of the destroyed buildings [and] create an economic development that will supply unlimited numbers of jobs and housing.” The surprise announcement came as the president spoke alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the first foreign leader to visit Trump since his Inauguration last month. Trump to sign executive order banning men from women’s sports — and branding visas with wrong sex as ‘fraud’

By Diana Glebova | New York Post President Trump will sign an executive order Wednesday intending to keep biological men out of women’s sports through Title IX — pressuring schools to comply with the mandate by threatening to pull federal funds. The order will also mandate a visa review of athletes who enter the US to compete and mark the wrong sex on their application for potential “fraud.” Allowing trans women to compete against biological women is “dangerous” and “unfair,” White House officials said in a call previewing the signing Wednesday morning. Senate Dems’ whip says ‘I am a no’ to SB 3, the semi-auto gun ban bill, absent of significant changes

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice The house of cards on Colorado Senate Bill 25-003 appears to be collapsing in the wee hours before it is set for a vote. Sen. Nick Hinrichsen, a Pueblo County Democrat and the majority party's whip, has declared his opposition to the bill "prohibiting the manufacture, distribution, transfer, sale, and purchase of specified semiautomatic firearms" that some have said would make Colorado the most anti-gun state in the country. https://twitter.com/NickForCO/status/1886526899926786130 SB 3, sponsored by Democrat Sens. Tom Sullivan and Julie Gonzales and by Democrat Reps. Andrew Boesenecker and Meg Froelich, is slated for a second reading postponed from Jan. 31 at 9 a.m. Friday, when a vote could be taken. "I believe that, broadly, semi-au...

Report finds 63% of age 25-plus Coloradans have education beyond high school, leading the nation

By Jason Gonzales | Chalkbeat Colorado Colorado residents are still the most educated in the nation, but Massachusetts now shares the top spot, according to a report released last week. This year’s Stronger Nation Report found that 63% of Colorado residents aged 25 and older had an educational credential beyond a high school diploma in 2023, matching Massachusetts. That’s above the national average of 54.9% of residents who have earned college degrees or certificates or an industry certification. The figure is mostly unchanged from 2022, when about 62.9% of Colorado’s residents held a college credential. However, the percentage of Native American Colorado residents with college degrees or credentials has fallen, a troubling sign after years of steady increases. READ THE FULL ST...

Google, arguing it is not a monopoly, asks Ninth Circuit for app store antitrust reversal

By Michael Gennaro  | Courthouse News Google asked a federal appeals court Monday to throw out a federal judge’s ruling stemming from the 2023 antitrust trial where a jury found that Google’s Play Store and billing services on Android platforms constituted an illegal monopoly. The tech giant argues that it competes with Apple — and that the trial judge stopped it from hammering that point home. In October 2024, U.S. District Judge James Donato ordered Google to open up Google Play and carry third-party app stores, and allow those third-party developers to have access to Google Play’s catalog of apps, among other remedies, in order to increase competition on the Android platform. Epic Games sued Google in 2020 after Google removed Epic’s hit game Fortnite from the Google Play Store...
