Leader of auto thefts from Colorado airport lots sentenced to prison

By  Logan Smith | CBS Colorado A 25-year-old man who police believe oversaw the theft of dozens of vehicles from the parking lots at Denver International Airport recently pleaded guilty and received a 20-year prison sentence. David Nava-Delgado led a "prolific" group that stole at least 59 vehicles from DIA lots between February 2022 and March 2023, according to prosecutors. The group often took Ford F-150 Raptors which they drove into the fronts of businesses to steal ATMs. They attempted or completed this type of burglary 31 times, per prosecutors.  The group also stole vehicles in Adams, Arapahoe, Broomfield, Boulder, Denver, Jefferson County and Logan County. Jeep Grand Cherokees, Dodge Challengers and Dodge Chargers were also popular models to the thieves. Typically, the...

Colorado Springs e-bike policy gains narrow vote of approval

By Seth Boster | The Gazette Colorado Springs' Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services Advisory Board on Thursday narrowly approved a policy to expand electric bike access on city trails. This was after a separate committee overseeing the city's parks and open spaces rejected the proposal ahead of final City Council consideration. The prior rejection by the TOPS Working Committee took issue with an update to city code that would define Class 1 and 2 e-bikes, powered by an electric motor, as "non-motorized use." Members of that committee struggled to square the suggested definition with the 1997 voter-approved TOPS ordinance, which cleared the way for sales tax portions to fund and acquire lands such as Red Rock Canyon, Stratton and Blodgett open spaces, as well as Ute Valley Park ...

FBI, DOJ officials with Biden-Harris admin lawyer up in prep for potential prosecutions by incoming AG Matt Gaetz

By Thomas Stevenson | The Post Millennial Current DOJ as well as FBI officials are reaching out to lawyers after President-elect has chosen former Rep. Matt Gaetz for US Attorney General. Some of the most senior officials in the federal justice agencies are preparing for potential prosecution during the upcoming Trump administration. According to NBC News, after Trump's victory over Harris, some long-time and senior-level staff at the DOJ as well as the FBI are nervous that Trump appointments such as Gaetz at the DOJ could go after them legally. The selection of Gaetz has specifically made them nervous about possible cases against them, per the outlet. Some FBI officials were "shell-shocked" by Trump's election win.  Trump has long promised to "drain the swamp...

Chinese summer camps teach American kids to be like Red Army soldiers and ‘little’ police officers

By Philip Lenczycki | Daily Caller Thousands of American kids are being sent to camps run by a Chinese influence and intelligence agency that promote Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda and even train some children to act like “Little Overseas Chinese Police,” a Daily Caller News Foundation investigation discovered. The Chinese government advertises the “Root-Seeking Summer Camp In China” as an opportunity for ethnically Chinese children living in the U.S. and other countries to immerse themselves in Chinese language and culture. However, a DCNF review of Chinese government announcements and the program’s website discovered the camps are overseen by a Chinese influence and intelligence service. The program not only exposes participants as young as 10 years old to CCP propagan...

Pentagon fails 7th audit, costing $178 million, cannot account for $824 billion budget

By Thomas Stevenson | The Post Millennial The Pentagon has failed its seventh audit in a row as of Friday and cannot account fully for the $824 billion the Department of Defense (DoD) is allocated. Despite this, DoD officials say they have "turned a corner" on the spending. The audit itself cost the government $178 million. The Pentagon could not provide a full accounting of the $824 billion DoD budget, sparking more outrage from taxpayers who fund the operation, per Fox News. The DoD said, "Teams of independent public accountants and the DoD Office of Inspector General closely examined the financial statements of the Department and its reporting entities. Of the 28 reporting entities undergoing standalone financial statement audits, 9 received an unmodified audi...

Potential Trump education secretary calls for DOE to be ‘shut down’: ‘Put parents back in the driver’s seat’

By Taylor Penley  | Fox News Moms for Liberty co-founder Tiffany Justice has been frequently floated as a potential pick for President-elect Donald Trump's education secretary, but the same agency she could lead is also one she says should be abolished. "Parents are the number one driver of student success. Parents were put in the back seat when it came to their kids' education. We need to put them in the driver's seat, and I know that President Trump believes that, too," Justice said Monday on "Fox & Friends First." "Ultimately, I believe the Department of Education should be shut down. Since it was created, we have only seen plummeting achievement scores, teachers unions having more influence on our kids' education and more global interference in our kids' education. It...

Justice: The New York Times fact-checks itself in fumbled fact check of RFK Froot Loops claims

By Tristan Justice | Commentary, The Federalist The New York Times was mocked online for having proved the point the paper was trying to discredit. The New York Times fact-checked itself in an embarrassing attempt to fact-check President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Robert F. Kennedy Jr. In an article published Friday on Kennedy’s crusade to regulate the food industry, the paper inadvertently contradicted its own criticism of a claim by Kennedy related to a popular cereal marketed to children. Spirit Airlines files for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

By Elizabeth Pritchett , Pilar Arias | Fox Business Spirit Airlines has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection following significant financial struggles due to mounting losses and debt maturities, the airline announced Monday. The filing comes after two failed mergers in less than two years – one recently with Frontier and another earlier in 2024 with JetBlue – which left the ultra-low-cost carrier in a bind after repetitive quarterly losses. In October, Spirit announced plans to sell multiple aircraft and lay off workers as it tried to raise cash and revive operations. READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX BUSINESS

Kremlin warns ‘inevitable escalation’ over Biden allegedly authorizing Ukraine long-range missile strikes

By Oliver JJ Lane | Breitbart The United States allowing its long-range tactical missiles to strike targets deep inside Russia for the first time would “inevitably lead to a serious escalation”, Kremlin figures warn after Washington D.C. appears to brief one of President Biden’s final acts in office will be to permit such attacks. Russia warned of dire consequences if Ukraine used long-range U.S.-made ATACMS missiles to strike strategic targets deep inside the Federation, but also confidence it would be able to foil the attacks in the first place. The responses came after claims were published in the beltway-interest newspapers favoured for leaks by the U.S. intelligence community at the weekend that U.S. President Joe Biden would permit Ukraine to use the American Army Tactical Miss...

Daniel: Eventually, you run out of other people’s money

By Bobbie Daniel, Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice Colorado, long admired for its breathtaking landscapes, vibrant outdoor culture, and once-thriving economy, finds itself at a crossroads. Rising living costs, unaffordable housing, stagnant wages and increasing business closures are eroding the state’s appeal. A state once a beacon of opportunity is now grappling with mounting challenges that jeopardize its economic vitality. Recent data highlights the gravity of the situation. According to the Common Sense Institute (2023), Colorado’s net population growth was a mere 7,236 people, ranking 16th nationally —- a stark contrast to its historic reputation as a magnet for newcomers. The University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business reported a troubling 22% drop in new business fili...
