Krannawitter: Without mutual civic trust, there would have been no American Founding

THOMAS L. KRANNAWITTER, PH.D. | Liberty Lyceum The Signers of the Declaration of Independence concluded with a famous and solemn pledge—their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor. This was no small matter. What they were calling “revolution” was, from the British point of view, treason against the Crown and punishable by death. Yet, the Signers stood strong and launched the greatest experiment in freedom the world has witnessed, a movement held together by a powerful kind of social and political glue: Trust. The pledge offered by the Signers in the Summer of 1776 was not a promise to God, nor to fellow citizens. The pledge they made was to each other. They knew, every one of them, that if some broke the trust when the going got tough—and the going was about to get very tough!—others wou...

The Left’s latest scheme to permanently change elections in America

Paul Teller and Jason Snead | Washington Examiner Imagine a Super Bowl referee bending the rules to give his favorite team the win. Few would call that fair. Yet that is precisely what the Left wants to do to America’s elections. From noncitizen voting to lawsuits inviting activist judges to rewrite our election laws, left-wing activists are taking every opportunity to change elections permanently for partisan gain. Their latest tactic is to undermine the basic principle of “one person, one vote” with a new scheme called ranked choice voting. As we speak, liberal special interests are leading a sophisticated national campaign to push ranked choice voting in nearly every state. They have hired lobbyists, formed astroturf activist groups, and are financing state ballot measures acro...

Satirical testimony zaps lefty Colorado lawmakers on guns, furries, abortion

By Colorado Peak Politics Step aside Babylon Bee. There’s a new satire game in town and the conservative folks still left in Colorado are proud to call Scott Shamblin and Nicole McBurney their homies. Their videos mocking the state’s ridiculously progressive legislature have gone viral across social media as frontman Shamblin and writer McBurney piss off the libs while sending rational thinking folks into hysterical fits of laughter. We strongly suspect those are not their real names, and after seeing their videos, PeakNation™ will likely agree. And applaud. Behold! Gen Z has a sense of humor. Johnson: CPW needs to act so producers know what is allowable to protect livestock from wolves

By Rona Johnson  | The Fence Post The wolf or wolves that killed a calf in Grand County, Colorado, were ones that were moved from Oregon to Colorado about three months ago. Initially, Colorado Parks and Wildlife did not report that the killer wolf or wolves were from Oregon, but eventually in response to pressure from the press and Colorado livestock producers the CPW caved and admitted the truth. Before the wolves from Oregon were introduced into Colorado, CPW Director Jeff Davis and his staff testified before the House Agriculture Committee on Sept. 12, 2023, that they would do everything they could to not bring problem wolves to Colorado.

Krannawitter: Are things becoming better or worse for the children of America?

By THOMAS L. KRANNAWITTER, PH.D. | Liberty Lyceum April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month, established in 1983 by President Ronald Reagan’s Proclamation 5039. It is fitting, therefore, in this month of April, 2024, to ask some zetetic questions: How are children doing in the United States today? Are things becoming better or worse for the children of America? The United States is now a more progressive regime than ever before. Progressives now control virtually every institution of influence and power. READ THE FULL COMMENTARY AT LIBERTY LYCEUM

Devotional: What’s your priority in life, a destination or simply a dream?

By Drake Hunter | Guest Commentary Have you stopped to ponder how your worldview shapes life? It's a fascinating concept that provides insight into whether you're on the right path. Your worldview is a blend of your beliefs, influencing how you perceive things, interact with others, and even present yourself to the world. It's a powerful force that determines destination. As a Christian, I firmly believe that our destiny is to live with unwavering faith in the one true God — El Olam, trusting Him always. This eternal faith paves the way to our ultimate destiny (Psalms 33:11). It's a beautiful and inspiring way to live for those who honestly Just Believe. Authentic Christians center their lives around following Jesus Christ, who shows us the way to Truth. Jesus' worldview is sub...

Daniel: Unleash responsible energy production in Colorado, kill Senate Bill 24-159

By BOBBIE DANIEL | Guest Columnist Recently, our Board of County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution declaring Mesa County’s opposition to Senate Bill 24-159, which prohibits new oil and gas production in Colorado. At first glance, the Front Range sponsors of this bill aim to give us less pollution, better health outcomes, reasonable care of finite mineral resources and more responsible property rights. We all want these things, and while the aspiration for reduced pollution and enhanced health and environmental stewardship is universal, the approach of SB 24-159 is concerning. It is a widely-known achievement of the 19th century that the greatest standard of living has been achieved by respecting private property rights of the individual, versus the road of collective...

Giordano: America’s woke education is fueling the mental health crisis

By Nicholas Giordano | FOX News According to a new Gallup poll, "happiness" is plummeting in America, adding to the mounting evidence that the U.S. has a mental health crisis on its hands. It is particularly alarming that these bleak findings include children, teens and young adults – demographics that have traditionally enjoyed relatively carefree lives and positive outlooks as they face a lifetime of promises.  But the data is sobering: suicide ranks as the second leading cause of death among children ages 10-14 and young adults ages 20-34. Furthermore, 55% of young adults under the age of 30 suffer from anxiety, and 47% are depressed and/or hopeless. Sadly, these statistics do not surprise me.  As a college professor, not only h...

Sloan: Biden’s betrayal of Israel in war with Hamas

By Kelly Sloan | Special Contributor, The Rocky Mountain Voice Back in October, in the stunned aftermath of the worst collective massacre of Jews since the Holocaust, Presideent Joe Biden told the Israelis and the world that the U.S. would stand by them. He pledged American support, including armaments. It was a good moment, one civilized nation pledging its solidarity with another in the face of barbarity. Five months later, Biden informed the Israelis that they were essentially alone. On March 25, the UN Security Council voted on yet another morally bankrupt resolution calling for a unilateral and unconditional cease fire in the war in Gaza, and this time the United States abstained. In all previous iterations of this and other UN resolutions like it, which stop just short of...

Hillman: Progressive gun control bills defy common sense

By Mark Hillman | MarkHillman.com Although I am less optimistic, I still hold out hope that Colorado isn’t irretrievably doomed to follow California, Oregon and Washington into the hopeless abyss of Progressivism. A few key indicators will soon reveal if we have passed the point of no return, including whether enough common-sense Democrats remain to stand with Republicans against the Far Left’s relentless assault on our 2nd Amendment rights. Senate Bill 131 would prohibit licensed concealed-carry permit holders from carrying their guns in “sensitive spaces,” which sponsors Sen. Sonya Jaquez-Lewis (D-Boulder) and Chris Kolker (D-Centennial) defined as most places outside your home. The bill would ban legal possession in these gun-free zones by licensed permit-holders.  It would,...
