In ‘Return to Sender’ operation, ICE targets 100+ Venezuelan gang members for arrest

By Maddie Rhodes | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement targeted over 100 members of the Venezuelan gang, Tren de Aragua, for arrest and detention as part of a multi-location immigration enforcement operation in Aurora and Denver Wednesday morning.  This operation, which the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration Rocky Mountain Division is calling the “Return to Sender Operation,” took at least 10 people into custody at the Cedar Run Apartments at 888 S. Oneida St. in Denver, according to a DEA spokesperson on scene.   The DEA Rocky Mountain Division said this was part of the operation that was expected to start in Aurora on Jan. 30. This operation was reportedly delayed because information was leaked and posed security threats. ...

Hailing from Boulder, dapper-dressed stuffed marmot Flatiron Freddy has made winter predictions for more than 12 years, usually showing up in style to the celebration: skiing down a trail, driving a car out of his burrow, and even by zip line in a canoe. This year, Punxsutawney Phil made his own prediction for winter after he saw his shadow: six more weeks of winter. The agency is partnering with 30×30 Fundraising, an online nonprofit aimed at stemming the flood of requests for K-9 vests. On Tuesday, Senate Bill 25-003, “Semiautomatic Firearms & Rapid-Fire Devices,” passed through the Senate State, Veterans, and Military Affairs Committee in a 3-2 vote. The proposed bill, backed by Democratic Senators Tom Sullivan of Centennial and Julie Gonzales of Denver, would prohibit the manufacture, distribution, transfer, sale and purchase of specified semiautomatic firearms along with the purchase and sale of accessories that increase the rate of semi-automatic fire, like binary triggers. ‘More like this, please,’: Governor, lawmakers respond to DEA raid in Adams County

By Heather Willard | KDVR-TV Fox 31 News Federal law enforcement agencies, joined by local partners, raided what the Drug Enforcement Agency called a “makeshift nightclub” in Adams County on Sunday, resulting in 49 people arrested. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement took 41 of those arrested into custody, alleging they were in the U.S. illegally. The raid was the result of a months-long investigation by the DEA’s Rocky Mountain Field Division. Woods, the former Colorado Bureau of Investigation DNA analyst, had her first court appearance Thursday morning. This comes after she was charged with 102 felonies related to alleged tampering and excluding of DNA evidence.
