Comer thinks house has identified Biden’s autopen staffer

By Mark Swanson | Newsmax House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, R-Ky., said Friday that the panel has opened an investigation into former President Joe Biden’s use of an autopen to issue his eleventh-hour pardons, adding he thinks they know the staffer who did it, the Washington Examiner reported. Comer made the comments in a speech to the Republican National Lawyers Association’s policy conference in Washington. “So our newest investigation at Oversight Committee is we’re investigating the autopen, and I think we’ve identified the staffer” who operated it, Comer said, according to the Examiner. “If what we think is going to play out on the autopen [investigation], it’s going to create a strong case on the pardons.” READ THE FULL STORY AT NEWSMAX...

Trump HHS Yanks $60,000,000 In Federal Funding From Harvard

By Emily Kopp | Daily Caller The Department of Health and Human Services has canceled another $60 million in grants to Harvard University in the latest strike by the Trump administration against the Ivy League school. The termination of $60 million in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-related funding was relayed in a May 19 letter obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation. Harvard has seen nearly $3 billion in federal grants and contracts frozen or canceled. The university sued the Trump administration on April 21, refusing to negotiate on a series of suggested reforms, including the dissolution of diversity, equity and inclusion, actions toward merit-based hiring, and disciplinary action against violent student groups. The letter cites the findings of the Harvard Pres...

MAGA baby savings accounts part of pro-family ‘one, big, beautiful bill’

By Libby Emmons | The Post Millennial The Trump administration's One, Big, Beautiful Bill currently making its way through Congress is being touted as pro-family legislation by the White House, in no small part because of the provision for MAGA baby savings account. This allows families to take a tax deduction in order to use that money to set up savings accounts for their babies. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt spoke about the provision during an early morning briefing, saying "This one big, beautiful bill is also pro-family. It will increase the child tax credit to $2,500 per child, establish optional savings account for newborn babies with a $1,000 credit added and strengthen paid family leave." "This bill also delivers historic tax relief to America's s...

4 polls show Trump with strong approval ratings

By Michael Katz  | Newsmax President Donald Trump's trip last week to the Middle East and his administration's recent progress on trade agreements appear to have boosted his perception among American voters, with four national polls showing his favorability rating above 47%, consistent with the level following his inauguration. Polls released Monday by Morning Consult, Rasmussen Reports, and Harvard CAPS/Harris  showed Trump's approval rating at 48%, 49%, and 47%, respectively, and a Daily Mail/J.L. Partners poll released Sunday showed his approval rating at 50%. "Despite the doom and gloom headlines from news organizations, the American people actually feel great about the direction of the country," White House principal deputy secretary and senior adviser Harrison Fields told Ne...

Jared Polis vetoes Colorado labor movement’s priority bill. Union leaders say they’ll be back.

By Jesse Paul | Colorado Sun Gov. Jared Polis made his expected veto of Senate Bill 5 official on Friday, a decision that’s sure to deepen the rift between him and the Colorado labor movement, as well as Democrats in the legislature.  The measure would have abolished a requirement in the Colorado Labor Peace Act that 75% of workers at a company sign off before unions can negotiate with businesses over union security. That’s after a majority of workers vote to unionize. Union security is the term for when workers are forced to pay fees for collective bargaining representation — regardless of whether they are members of their workplace’s union. Unions are required to bargain on behalf of all workers at a company, including nonmembers. That’s why unions feel it’s only fair that union...

Colorado files amicus brief supporting DEI initiatives in lawsuit

By Thelma Grimes | Colorado Politics Colorado joined yet another coalition of 18 states in filing a court brief supporting the legal challenge to two of President Donald Trump’s executive orders targeting diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility programs, even as a federal court blocked cuts to public health grants.  In the case involving public health funding, U.S. District Judge Mary McElroy in Rhode Island granted a temporary restraining order against the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services terminating $11 billion in public health grants, including $229 million in Colorado. That lawsuit, filed April 1 by 23 states and the District of Columbia, argued that cutting billions in federal money from state public health departments would decimate health infrastruc...

Trump signs bill to protect young people from sextortion and revenge porn

By  Amanda Prestigiacomo | Daily Wire President Donald Trump signed the bipartisan “Take It Down Act” into law on Monday, surrounded by First Lady Melania Trump and lawmakers who helped advance the bill. The “Take It Down Act” makes publishing non-consensual intimate imagery, real or AI-generated, a federal crime. It requires social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, X, and Facebook to remove content that features explicit images or videos of minors, known as “child sexual abuse material,” or CSAM, or “revenge porn,” within 48 hours of the content being flagged. Mrs. Trump has been a fierce advocate for the “Take It Down Act,” encouraging lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to push the legislation forward. FLOTUS opened the signing with remarks about the bipartisan effort to...

Supreme Court allows Trump to strip protections from some Venezuelans; deportations could follow

By AP | Ap Via Breitbart WASHINGTON (AP) — The Supreme Court on Monday allowed the Trump administration to strip legal protections from 350,000 Venezuelans, potentially exposing them to deportation. The court’s order, with only one noted dissent, puts on hold a ruling from a federal judge in San Francisco that kept in place Temporary Protected Status for the Venezuelans that would have otherwise expired last month. The status allows people already in the United States to live and work legally because their native countries are deemed unsafe for return due to natural disaster or civil strife. Mosher: China blinked — and Trump clearly won the first round of his tariff war

By Steven W. Mosher | New York Post, Commentary The opening round of the tariff war with China is over. And earlier this week, President Trump achieved a very clear win.  The president had Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the ropes. Trump’s 145% tariffs on Chinese goods landed a crushing blow to Beijing’s economy, already staggering under the weight of rising unemployment, unsustainable debt, and rising bankruptcies. But instead of giving China a knockout punch, Trump decided to hit the pause button. And it’s worth asking why. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE NEW YORK POST

Out of order: Was DNC vice chair David Hogg undone by procedure—or politics?

By Jen Schumann | Rocky Mountain Voice When your bylaws mention gender 47 times and Robert’s Rules is 816 pages long, what could possibly go wrong? David Hogg says the Democratic National Committee (DNC) is trying to “fast-track” his removal as vice chair. The party insists it’s just following procedure. But veteran parliamentarian Gregory Carlson says what happened may violate one of the most basic principles of Robert’s Rules of Order – you can’t go back and undo a vote after the meeting is over. “Usually, you can't overturn something that's already happened on procedural grounds,” Carlson said. “You have to challenge it at the time that it’s happening.” A procedural cleanup – or political hit job? Back in February, Hogg and Pennsylvania state Rep. Malcolm Kenyatta were el...
