By Cami Mondeaux, Mabinty Quarshie and David Sivak | Washington Examiner President-elect Donald Trump is quietly pushing entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy to fill the Senate seat vacated by Vice President-elect J.D. Vance, three sources familiar with the matter confirmed to the Washington Examiner.  Ramaswamy previously took himself out of the running for the position last year after Trump and Vance won the November election, instead accepting a position from the president-elect to co-lead the newly created Department of Government Efficiency. Hegseth promises to reinstate, repay troops who refused COVID vaccine

By Leo Shane III | Military Times During comments at his confirmation hearing Tuesday, Defense Secretary nominee Pete Hegseth vowed to reinstate and reimburse troops dismissed from the ranks for refusing to take the COVID-19 vaccine years ago. The surprise statement came amid unrelated questions about Hegseth’s views towards diversity and discrimination policies in the military. Hegseth, who previously served in the National Guard, said past Pentagon policies requiring the vaccine amounted to its own form of religious discrimination. “Tens of thousands of service members were kicked out because of an experimental vaccine,” Hegseth said. “They will be apologized to. They will be reinstated, reinstituted with pay and rank.” READ THE FULL STORY AT THE MILITARY ...

By Matt Delaney  | The Washington Times Attorney general nominee Pam Bondi said she wants to end the political weaponization of the Justice Department that she argued has been rife during the current administration. In Wednesday’s confirmation hearing, Ms. Bondi told Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, Rhode Island Democrat, that she would apply the law fairly and would never craft an enemies list if approved for her position. She said the DOJ’s weaponization against President-elect Donald Trump in recent years, with the department headed by Merrick Garland, is sowing division in the country. By Judicial Watch Judicial Watch announced today it received a spreadsheet from the District of Columbia Board of Elections revealing that 388 noncitizens voted in DC’s November 2024 general election. While federal law prohibits noncitizens from voting in federal elections, states and localities may allow noncitizens to vote in local elections. In 2023, the DC Council amended the District of Columbia Election Code of 1955 to allow all noncitizen residents, including illegal aliens, to vote in its local elections.  More than 230 of the noncitizens who voted are registered Democrats, the list shows. Less than 20 are registered Republicans. The remainder did not register with a party or registered with a third party. The list does not detail wh...

Why some Trump nominees might be confirmed with a voice vote, and why some might not

By Chad Pergram | Fox News The Senate will likely have a few Cabinet nominees who are relatively non-controversial. In the interest of time, senators could agree to expedite the process and confirm an individual nominee or several nominees by voice vote or unanimous consent. As long as there are no objections among all 100 (currently 99) senators. This speeds things up in the Senate, where floor time is at a premium. However, there’s a good reason why some Democrats may oppose a streamlined process for this. In Senate confirmation hearing, Pete Hegseth comes out swinging against anonymous smears

By Kristina Wong | Breitbart Defense Secretary Nominee Pete Hegseth came out swinging hard during his confirmation hearing on Tuesday against the orchestrated smear campaign against him pushed by the mainstream media. “A small handful of anonymous sources were allowed to drive a smear campaign and agenda about me, because our left wing media in America today, sadly, doesn’t care about the truth. All they were out to do [was] to destroy me. And why do they want to destroy me? Because I’m a change agent and a threat to them, because Donald Trump was willing to choose me, to empower me, to bring the Defense Department back to what it really should be, which is war fighting,” Hegseth said. “So I’m willing to endure these attacks, but what I will do is stand up for the truth and for my...
