Private sector adds 122,000 jobs in December, below expectations, ADP says

By Matthew Kazin  | Fox Business Companies in the private sector added 122,000 jobs in December, payroll processing firm ADP said on Wednesday. The figure is below economists’ estimates of 140,000 jobs and lower than the prior month’s reading of 146,000. "The labor market downshifted to a more modest pace of growth in the final month of 2024, with a slowdown in both hiring and pay gains," said Nela Richardson, ADP's chief economist. "Health care stood out in the second half of the year, creating more jobs than any other sector." READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX BUSINESS

Trump warns Hamas ‘all hell will break out’ if it doesn’t release hostages before he takes office

By Ryan King | New York Post President-elect Donald Trump starkly warned Hamas to release the remaining hostages before Inauguration Day or else “all hell will break out,” without elaborating on a specific response. Hamas is currently believed to have 101 hostages, including seven Americans, at least three of whom are thought to be dead, and Trump has long threatened repercussions for the terror group if it fails to release them. “It will not be good for Hamas, and it will not be good, frankly, for anyone,” Trump, 78, warned during a press conference in Mar-a-Lago Tuesday. Justice Department says it plans to release only part of special counsel’s Trump report for now

By The Associated Press, via Breitbart The Justice Department said Wednesday that it will release special counsel Jack Smith’s findings on Donald Trump’s efforts to undo the results of the 2020 presidential election but will keep under wraps for now the rest of the report focused on the president-elect’s hoarding of classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate. The revelation was made in a filing to a federal appeals court that was considering a defense request to block the release of the two-volume report while charges remain pending against two Trump co-defendants in the Florida case accusing the Republican former president and current president-elect of illegally holding classified documents. Aileen Cannon, the Trump-appointed judge presiding ov...

House passes immigration measure named after Laken Riley

By Rebecca Beitsch and Mychael Schnell | The Hill House Republicans focused their attention on the border with their first bill of the year, passing legislation named after the slain Georgia student Laken Riley that would require detention of migrants arrested for theft. The legislation cleared the chamber in a 264-159 vote, with 48 Democrats joining all Republicans in support. The Senate is expected to take up the legislation this week. Dubbed the Laken Riley Act, the legislation honors the woman killed by a Venezuelan migrant who was arrested for shoplifting ahead of the attack and paroled in the country. Riley’s birthday would have been Friday, which is the same day the Senate may take up the bill. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE HILL

Biden admin working to effectively ban cigarettes in 11th hour proposal a ‘gift’ to cartels, expert says

By Emma Colton  | Fox News The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is moving forward with a regulatory rule in the final days of the Biden administration that would effectively ban cigarettes currently on the market in favor of products with lower nicotine levels, which could end up boosting business for cartels operating on the black market, an expert tells Fox News Digital. "Biden's ban is a gift with a bow and balloons to organized crime cartels with it, whether it's cartels, Chinese organized crime, or Russian mafia. It's going to keep America smoking, and it's going to make the streets more violent," Rich Marianos, former assistant director of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the current chair of the Tobacco Law Enforcement...

Biden releases 11 Guantanamo detainees captured after 9/11 to Oman for ‘resettlement’

By The Post Millennial On Monday, the White House announced the transfer of 11 Yemeni detainees, including two former bodyguards for Osama bin Laden, being held at the US naval base in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba to Oman, which has agreed to help re-settle them, despite the US currently battling Houthi terrorists in Yemin. The move is the latest attempt by the Biden administration to reduce the population at the military facility. The terrorists were captured following the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks but were held for over twenty years without being charged or put on trial. The Department of Defense said in a statement, "The Department of Defense announced today the resettlement of 11 Yemeni detainees from the detention facility at Guantanamo Bay to the Government...

Exhausted Democrats plan muted resistance for Trump’s inauguration

By Emily Hallas | Washington Examiner Democrats are prepared to protest President-elect Donald Trump in Washington, D.C., ahead of and during his inauguration on Jan. 20, although their opposition is muted compared to the reactions when he took office in 2017.  The Left’s lackluster resistance comes as it has grappled with how to respond to Trump’s reelection, with Molly Murphy, a pollster for Vice President Kamala Harris’s failed presidential campaign, telling Democratic National Committee members last month that “the 2025 playbook cannot be the 2017 playbook.” READ THE FULL STORY AT THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER

Davidson: The legacy of Jan. 6 should be massive reform of the FBI and DOJ

By John Daniel Davidson | Commentary, The Federalist Monday marked the four-year anniversary of Jan. 6, 2021, when tens of thousands of peaceful Trump supporters demonstrated outside the U.S. Capitol and a small number of them clashed with police before entering the Capitol itself. For Democrats and the left, Jan. 6 is the events that vindicates their hatred of Donald Trump and his supporters. They would have us believe it was among the darkest days in our nation’s history, when democracy itself hung in the balance and violent insurrectionists nearly prevented the peaceful transfer of power. Many of them actually believe and still repeat, as Sen. Amy Klobuchar did on Monday, that pro-Trump rioters killed police officers on Jan. 6. Above all, they insist that President Trump was...

By Patrick Reilly | New York Post President-elect Donald Trump confirmed he is sending eldest son Don Jr. to Greenland as part of his efforts to make it part of the US — despite repeated denials it is for sale. Trump confirmed the fact-finding trip while sharing video of a Greenlander putting on a red Make America Great Again hat and asking the incoming US president to “buy us.” “I am hearing that the people of Greenland are ‘MAGA,’” Trump posted on his Truth Social late Monday.
