Rasmussen: With growing ideological divide, 41% of Americans say second civil war possible in 5 years

By Karah Rucker  and Zachary Hill  | Straight Arrow News A new Rasmussen Reports poll asked Americans if they believe there is a chance the U.S. sees a second civil war. A large percentage of Americans said they believe that it is not only possible but imminent. Of registered voters polled, 41% said they believed it’s likely America will see another civil war within the next five years. On the other hand, 49% do not believe a civil war will happen within the next five years and 10% were not sure. Of those who believe a civil war is likely, 37% said a civil war is most likely to happen if Biden is reelected. Meanwhile, 25% believe it’s more likely if Trump gets a second term. GOP bill would force immigrants reported to ICE if they illegally try to buy guns

By Lauren Taylor | Straight Arrow News Republican senators have introduced a bill that would alert immigration authorities when an immigrant in the U.S. illegally attempts to purchase a gun. Undocumented immigrants are barred from buying guns in the U.S., however, the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is not required to alert U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) or local law enforcement if a firearm applicant is in America illegally. The Illegal Alien NICS Alert Act, authored by Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., and co-sponsored by Sens. Joni Ernst, R-Iowa, Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., John Boozman, R-Ark, and Thom Tillis, R-N.C., would change the system. According to Tillis’ office, the FBI’s database of people banned from buying guns curren...

Judge again finds Trump in contempt for violating gag order, threatens incarceration

By Kaelan Deese | Washington Examiner A judge fined former President Donald Trump an additional $1,000 on Monday for violating the gag order in his New York hush money trial, prompting the judge to warn future violations may result in incarceration. Trump was already fined $9,000 for nine separate violations raised by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office, and the former president has vowed to appeal Judge Juan Merchan’s findings — especially surrounding breaches that were the result of Trump reposting other people’s online posts. Trump, the first former president to be a defendant in a criminal trial, was previously warned that future violations could result in jail time. In the new contempt finding against Trump, Merchan again w...

‘There’s vote-buying going on at a scale like we have never seen before’

By DAVID COHEN | Politico North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum on Sunday supported the election integrity allegations made by former President Donald Trump, claiming on CNN: “I think it’s clear that there’s vote-buying going on at a scale like we have never seen before.” Burgum, who is considered to be a possible Trump vice-presidential pick, was responding on “State of the Union” to questions about statements made by the presumptive GOP presidential nominee during a weekend donor retreat in Florida. Trump, never shy about alleging uncorroborated malfeasance by Democrats, said his rivals use “welfare” as an enticement to get people to vote for them. “Don’t underestimate welfare. They get welfare to vote, and then they cheat on top of that — they cheat,” Trump said in his remarks on Satur...

Every state facing deceptive, unlimited abortion ballot measures this November

By JORDAN BOYD | The Federalist Democrats and their abortion giant allies want to legalize killing unborn babies throughout all nine months of gestation in every state. A majority of U.S. adults reject that position, but that fact hasn’t stopped the ballot measure battle that plagued Ohio last year from infiltrating several other states, including those controlled by Republicans, during the 2024 election cycle. Read about the iniotiatives on the ballot and which could be on the ballot, including in Colorado, here. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE FEDERALIST

Teddy Roosevelt: Our most macho President owed everything to women

By EDWARD F. O’KEEFE | Politico When you’re born in North Dakota, you get a few idols to choose from: Peggy Lee, Lawrence Welk, Roger Maris — or Theodore Roosevelt. For me the choice was easy. When I was a child, my family would take summer road trips to Medora, North Dakota, where Roosevelt rediscovered himself after the tragic loss of his wife and mother on the same day in 1884, to visit Theodore Roosevelt National Park. On those long car rides, I read and reread Edmund Morris’ Pulitzer Prize-winning masterpiece, The Rise of Theodore Roosevelt, so many times that its pages are tattered and torn. When I first considered writing my own history of my childhood idol, my intention had been to tell the story of how North Dakota saved Roosevelt’s life. After those tragic deaths,...

In AP/API poll, more than 8 in 10 Americans don’t trust corporate media to fairly report 2024 election

By TRISTAN JUSTICE | The Federalist Overwhelming majorities of Americans have lost their trust in the media to accurately report the news, according to a new poll out Wednesday. In a survey from the American Press Institute and The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, a whopping 83 percent of respondents said they were concerned the media would “report inaccurate information or disinformation” in their 2024 election coverage. Eighty-one percent said they are worried the media will report unverified information, and 77 percent said they feared the media would stick to the facts — but be dishonest in their framing, only covering things favorable to their preferred candidates or detrimental to their opponents. Pollsters found that 72 percent are worr...

Biden will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to partisan list of mostly Democrats

BY DARLENE SUPERVILLE | The Hill (Via The Associated Press) WASHINGTON (AP) — Clarence B. Jones says he thought a prankster was on the line when he answered the telephone and heard the person on the other end say they were calling from the White House. “I said, ‘Is this a joke or is this serious?’” Jones recalled. The caller swore they were serious and was calling with the news that President Joe Biden wanted to recognize Jones with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor. Jones, 93, will be honored for his activism during the Civil Rights Movement. He’s a lawyer who provided legal counsel to Martin Luther King Jr. and helped write the opening paragraphs of the “I Have a Dream” speech that King delivered at the Lincoln Memorial at the 1963 March on W...
