Colorado River Basin states inch toward fragile water compromise as federal deadlines approach

By Shannon Mullane | Colorado Sun The federal government laid out firm deadlines for the process to decide how to manage the river’s future. As the negotiations continue, environmental conditions in the basin worsen. Colorado River Basin states are almost, sort of, close to a small compromise in their negotiations that focuses on matching reservoir releases more closely to the river’s actual flow. Colorado water watchers seem to be rolling with it — so far.  Top negotiators in Colorado and six basin states offered a glimpse into the high-stakes talks for the first time in months during several water meetings this week. The states are negotiating how to manage the future water supply for 40 million people once the existing rules expire in 2026.  The opposing sides in the ne...

President Trump scores major SCOTUS win: nationwide injunctions limited in birthright battle

By Mairead Elordi | Daily Wire Lower courts have blocked Trump's executive orders nationwide. The Supreme Court handed down an opinion on Friday in a case regarding President Donald Trump’s executive order on birthright citizenship, ruling that lower courts do not have the unilateral authority to block Trump’s agenda. The justices ruled 6-3 along ideological lines, allowing Trump to try to end birthright citizenship in some parts of the country while legal challenges against his order proceed in others. The ruling did not address the question of birthright citizenship itself, which is the practice of granting automatic citizenship rights for babies born on United States soil, regardless of their parents’ citizenship status. Previously, lower courts in Maryland, Mas...

Givas: Dem Governor Hobbs Pushes Arizona to Brink of Shutdown in Veto Frenzy

By Nick Givas | Commentary, The Western Journal Arizona Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs continued to exercise her veto pen at record speed by tossing out two Republican-passed budgets on Wednesday, setting up a potential government shutdown. “Governor Katie Hobbs vetoed partisan, sham budgets passed by House Republicans after the majority caucus wasted days bringing the State to the brink of a government shutdown,” a statement on her office website read. “In her veto letters, she highlighted the shortfalls of their reckless and partisan budgets and called on the House Republicans to end the political games,” the statement added. “The vetoes come after Governor Hobbs repeatedly made it clear she would not sign the sham budgets that shortchange public safety, childcare, and the state...

Hegseth Was Right: Trump’s Iran Strike Hit Harder Than the Media Wants You to Know

By Byron York | Washington Examiner HEGSETH IS RIGHT. This newsletter has often noted a peculiar feature of some media coverage of President Donald Trump: When Trump or Republicans say something, many reporters and commentators reflexively seek to knock it down. When Trump or Republicans say A, they immediately say not-A. Do Trump and his GOP allies say former President Joe Biden seems out of it? Then Biden must be just fine. On Thursday, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth offered his own description of the phenomenon when he was addressing media coverage of the effectiveness of the U.S. bombing attack on Iran’s nuclear weapons program. Trump has said the raid was a huge success and that U.S. bombers “completely demolished” and “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear sites. Almost immediately, som...

DiGirolamo: This is how a predator grooms your son in under an hour

By John DiGirolamo | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice Perhaps you have a son and think you don’t need to worry about online predators. Think again. Typically, girls are targeted on social media accounts for either explicit content or coerced to meet in person for a sexual encounter. It’s different for boys, who are usually targeted for money. These blackmail situations are criminal offenses, commonly termed “sextortion.” This is What a Predator’s Playbook Looks Like: A criminal will set up a profile with a picture of an attractive college age female. The picture will be provocative and eye-catching, so a teenage boy won’t think twice about accepting the social connection. They’ll make contact online through social media accounts such as Snapchat, Instagram and especially...

SCOTUS clears the way: States can now block abortion providers from Medicaid

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America Washington, D.C. – This morning the U.S. Supreme Court delivered a major win for babies and their mothers in Medina v. Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, clearing the way for South Carolina and other states to stop funding big abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood in their Medicaid programs. South Carolina’s victory marks a meaningful step forward in the fight to stop forced taxpayer funding of the abortion industry. It offers a glimpse of what can be achieved nationwide with congressional passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill, which would defund big abortion businesses in Medicaid through the budget reconciliation process. Although the Hyde Amendment and similar policies in the majority of states prevent taxpayer dollars from being s...

‘Desperate attempt’ denied: Liberal-majority court leaves GOP-favored Wisconsin maps in place

By Lawrence Andrea | Milwaukee Journal Sentinel WASHINGTON – The Wisconsin Supreme Court on June 25 rejected a request to reconsider the state's congressional maps ahead of next year's midterm elections, all but ensuring the current maps will remain in place for 2026. The liberal-controlled court's decision, which was made without comment from the justices, marked the second time in the past two years that the court has rejected a push from Democrats to change the battleground state's federal maps. It is a loss for Democrats who sought more favorable lines as they aim to retake control of the House in 2026. Democratic groups filed their latest petitions in May asking the court to reconsider the congressional map lines. Any change would have likely made two of the state's...

Carville sounds the alarm: NYC socialist primary win could sink Democrats in 2026

By Alexander Hall | Fox News Veteran strategist warns Zohran Mamdani's win could damage party nationwide after shocking defeat of Andrew Cuomo Veteran strategist James Carville warned on Wednesday how democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani winning the New York City mayoral primary may be a burden for the Democratic Party. Mamdani, a Ugandan-born New York State Assemblyman from Queens, caused a major upset by defeating former Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the race to become the Democratic Party’s nominee for New York City mayor. Republicans and some Democrats have blasted Mamdani, warning he is a grim sign of America’s political future. Carville, one of the most famous strategists in American politics, has been speaking about the Democratic Party’s need to ditch far-left politics ...

Trump calls CNN ‘scum,’ demands apology to military for Iran strike coverage

By Nicole Silverio | Daily Caller President Donald Trump called CNN and MSNBC “gutless losers” on Tuesday over their reporting on the bombing of Iran while taking questions about the conflict on the south lawn of the White House. CNN and MSNBC both raised questions about whether the B-2 bombs “completely and totally obliterated” the three nuclear facilities located outside of Tehran. Trump said that the outlets, which he referred to as “scum,” owed the B-2 pilots who put their lives on the line an apology. “I think it’s been completely demolished. I think that the reason we’re here is because those pilots, those B-2 pilots, did an unbelievable job,” Trump said while being aired by CNN. “And the fake news, CNN in particular, they’re trying to say ‘well, I agree that ...

Veterans win big—2M VA claims processed faster than any year before

By Leo Shane III | Military Times Veterans Affairs officials on Tuesday announced staffers had already processed more than 2 million disability benefits claims this fiscal year, the fastest the department has ever reached that mark. The processing milestone occurred nearly one month earlier than in fiscal 2024 and puts department claims workers on pace for another record-breaking year in terms of total cases completed. The work finished thus far represents almost $120 billion in compensation and pension benefits to veterans and survivors paid out since last October. In a statement, VA Secretary Doug Collins credited the progress to a refocusing of the department’s mission in recent months. “VA has reduced the claims backlog and has processed t...
