Auto accident prevents Fabbricatore from competing for nomination in special election

By BRIAN PORTER | The Rocky Mountain Voice HUGO -- The Republican Congressional Vacancy Committee convened here Thursday evening with nine candidates vying to be nominated to a place on the 4th District Congressional special election ballot. But, there should have been 10 candidates. John Fabbricatore was unable to participate when he was involved in an auto accident on the way to Hugo, reads a social media post he wrote. "I was involved in a vehicle accident that disabled my vehicle and kept me from making it to the event in Hugo, before the first round of votes were cast," he wrote. Lopez will appear on the special election ballot in June with the candidate selected by the Democratic Party to decide who will serve the remainder of U.S. Rep. Ken Buck's unexpired term. Jack Swigert had been elected to the newly created 6th District in Colorado. The Republican won election to the seat on Nov. 2, 1982, but on Dec. 27, 1982, Swigert died of respiratory failure seven days before taking office. "This is not business as usual," Weins said. By Rocky Mountain Voice The tradition of Opening Day will be a historical one for the Colorado Rockies in 2024, just not a memorable one. The Arizona Diamondbacks scored 14 runs in a third-inning offensive onslaught Thursday night and by then the Rockies trailed 16-1. It marks the worst single inning in franchise history in terms of most hits, runs and batters allowed, the Associated Press reported. The 14 runs are the most in an inning on Opening Day for any team since 1900, more than a century, according to Elias Sports. The D-backs sent 18 batters to the plate and had 13 hits, two walks and one sacrifice fly, the Associated Press reports. "The groundswell of support for our less than two-month-old campaign to make this brand new DA's office the best in Colorado has been humbling and inspiring," Brauchler said. He is the lone candidate to have petitioned for a place on the ballot in the new 23rd Judicial District. Deborah Flora qualifies for Colorado’s 4th District primary ballot

By BRIAN PORTER | The Rocky Mountain Voice Deborah Flora has become the second candidate to be ruled qualified for the U.S. House 4th District primary ballot, following a review of her petition signatures by the Colorado Secretary of State's office. The Secretary of State's office also previously ruled Lauren Boebert to be qualified. There are six other Republicans and one Democrat to have submitted petitions which have not as of yet been ruled to be qualified for the ballot in the 4th District.
