Kirk: To secure the White House in 2024, we must win low-propensity voters

By CHARLIE KIRK | The Daily Caller As the media world and D.C. insiders become increasingly transfixed by the fallout from President Joe Biden’s disastrous debate performance, it becomes more important than ever that the conservative movement remains steadfastly focused on the most important things — namely, registering voters and chasing their ballots. This is the hard work that wins elections in our modern era and that has quite literally flipped conventional election logic on its head. To that end, there is a term you are going to hear more and more this summer and fall as the key factor in former President Donald Trump’s hopes of retaking the White House: “Low-propensity voter.” READ THE FULL COMMENTARY AT THE DAILY CALLER Editor's note: Opinions expressed in co...

Sources: Biden tells Dem governors he’s fine, ‘It’s just my brain’

By REAGAN REESE | The Daily Caller President Joe Biden told more than 20 Democratic governors that he is in good health with the exception of his brain function while discussing the fate of his presidential campaign on Wednesday, sources told the New York Times. Biden assured the governors that despite the growing calls for him to drop out of the presidential race, he would be staying in, two people who participated in the meeting and several others briefed on his comments told the NYT. In response to a question about his health from Hawaii Gov. Josh Green, the 81-year-old said that all was fine with him except for his “brain.” “It’s just my brain,” Biden told Green, which at least one governor took as a serious comment that left them confused, the NYT reported. At least three oth...

Slemenda: It’s America’s birthday, and we’re still the best

By JACK SLEMENDA | Commentary, The Daily Caller Ah, The Fourth of July. By far my favorite holiday. The fourth serves as a time for Americans to kick back, crack open their favorite ice-cold domestic beer, watch fireworks recreate that rocket’s red glare and celebrate the fact that we live in the greatest country in human history. To the enemies of America, to the haters and losers who think Old Glory has taken a step back from that status, I say think again, and bend the knee. When the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence on that fateful summer day, they birthed a nation that is, and always will be, the land of the free and home of the brave. They understood that there is nothing wrong with an immense or even excessive amount of pride in your country, a mentali...

Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon taken into custody at federal prison

By KATELYNN RICHARDSON | The Daily Caller Former Trump advisor Steve Bannon reported to prison Monday and is now officially in custody, according to The Associated Press. Bannon will serve a four-month sentence for his conviction on contempt of Congress charges for ignoring a subpoena from the Jan. 6 select committee. The Supreme Court declined on Friday to postpone his sentence while he appeals the conviction. The Bureau of Prisons confirmed Monday that he is now in custody, according to the AP. He began his sentence at Federal Correctional Institute Danbury just before noon, ABC News reported. “I am proud to go to prison,” Bannon said before entering the prison, according to ABC News. “If this is what it takes the stand up to tyranny, if this way it takes the stand up to the ...

Blackmon: Supreme Court has a chance to torch one of the Left’s favorite legal tactics

By David Blackmon | Daily Caller From fuel emissions standards to gas-powered vehicle bans to far-reaching climate disclosure rules, states like California are constantly testing how far state laws can go in shaping national climate policy. But for nearly a decade, activists and leftwing lawmakers have simultaneously pursued a backdoor strategy that seeks to use state courtrooms, not state or national legislatures, to sue oil and natural gas companies into ceasing production and accomplishing their goal of shutting down American energy. Less flashy EV mandates and offshore wind subsidies, the barrage of suits filed against energy companies has flown under the public’s radar. That might be about to change: If a single one of these cases is successful, Americans across the country...

Trump: ‘I happen to think he’s incompetent’ but warns against underestimating Biden in debate

By Julianna Frieman | The Daily Caller Presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump called President Joe Biden a “worth(y) debater” Thursday on “The All-In Podcast.” Trump and Biden are set to face off in the first 2024 presidential debate hosted by CNN on June 27. Trump told podcast hosts Jason Calacanis, Chamath Palihapitiya, David Sacks and David Friedberg why he does not want to “underestimate” Biden during the 90-minute showdown. “All I can say is this. I watched him with Paul Ryan, and he destroyed Paul Ryan. Paul Ryan with the water. He was chugging water outta left and right. I didn’t think a human being would be able to drink so much water at one time. And he beat Paul Ryan,” Trump commented. “So, I’m not underestimating him. It is what it is. U...
