Douglas County bucks trend on handouts – and homeless population craters

By Christina Coulter  | Fox News Due south of Denver's homelessness crisis, a  Colorado county has nearly eradicated its own unhoused population with a simple message to its citizens: "Handouts Don't Help." Throughout Douglas County, there are about 70 signs with the message at intersections and roadways that were once popular hangouts for area panhandlers. Each sign directs citizens to DouglasHasHeart.org, where they can redirect their donations to the Douglas County Community Foundation. The county took to print media and advertisements online to spread the message through the community. "The thought dawned on me from a common sense standpoint – I saw a lot of people like my daughter feeling conflicted at an intersection," Republican Douglas County Commissioner Ab...

Here’s how a Venezuelan gang was able to infiltrate the U.S. and wreak havoc in major cities

By Wallace White | Daily Caller A notorious Venezuelan gang is extending its tentacles into the U.S. on the back of the Biden-Harris administration’s border crisis, and experts say that immigration authorities have no way of identifying the criminal group’s members before they hit American soil. The gang, known as Tren de Aragua, has made headlines in recent weeks with its criminal activities in multiple states, according to multiple reports. Yet, border authorities have virtually zero tools to detect Venezuelan migrants’ affiliations with the gang, as the U.S.’ diplomatic relationship with the beleaguered country is effectively on ice, experts told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “We have next to no vetting for the Venezuelans who are entering the country, because we have no re...

The city’s plan to install over 100 license plate readers was announced in January as part of an initiative to crack down on auto theft. Since the installation, the Denver Police Department said there have already been success stories. Police released the Flock Safety Transparency Portal, which allows residents to see which law enforcement agencies have access to the data, prohibited uses of the information, what’s not detected and other information. Secret Service boss says vital info not relayed over radio, delaying response to would-be rally assassin

By Michael Ruiz and David Spunt | Fox News U.S. Secret Service (USSS) leaders are holding a 1 p.m. update on the agency's internal investigation following the July 13 assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Acting Director Ronald Rowe said the agency had confirmed "communication deficiencies" that slowed its response when the gunman climbed up on a rooftop just outside the secure perimeter. "For example, the Secret Service did not co-locate its security room with local law enforcement," he said. "There was an over-reliance on mobile devices, resulting in information being siloed." House votes to increase Secret Service protections for Presidential contenders Trump, Harris

By Tracy Ross | Washington Examiner The House voted unanimously to increase Secret Service protections for presidential candidates, giving them the same level of security as sitting presidents while traveling on the campaign trail.  Lawmakers passed a resolution in a 405-0 vote on Friday that would enhance protections for former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris with rare, widespread bipartisan support. The legislation comes in response to the two assassination attempts against Trump during this cycle, which prompted condemnations from both sides of the aisle to crack down on political violence.  “This is not a partisan issue,” House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) said this week. “We have a nominee for president that’s probably the most threatened...
