By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice The only constant in life is said to be change. That certainly is the way it may feel for those in a number of county Republican parties around Colorado. From El Paso to Weld to Washington counties and other places dotting the map, new party leadership has been put in place during biennial reorganization, and more could be. In Adams County, both U.S. Reps. Lauren Boebert and Gabe Evans spoke before Laura Garcia-Pascoe was elected as the new county Republican chairwoman. By Noah Festenstein | The Gazette, via the Denver Gazette The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and animal law enforcement officers are investigating a recent incident where a dog ingested rodent poison while walking through a Castle Pines neighborhood, according to a news release Sunday. Authorities called the incident accidental, saying the poison, was legally dispensed in the Tapestry Hills neighborhood. It is unclear what the dog’s condition is Sunday after ingesting a poison pellet. Douglas County Animal Law Enforcement Sgt. Bryanna Munns says animal law enforcement officers are working to determine whether there is still cause for concern within the neighborhood. Douglas County Canine Rescue relinquishes license after lengthy investigation

By Heather Willard | Fox 31 News The Douglas County Canine Rescue, a nonprofit registered in Castle Rock, relinquished its license to the state on Nov. 19, months after the state sought to file charges against the pet rescue organization. The rescue was subject to two cases brought by the Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act program in 2023 and 2024. Through those cases, DCCR faced nine charges, which included failing to provide timely veterinary care to the dogs in their care, failing to maintain records, falsifying records and operating without proper licensure. Van Winkle replaced Lora Thomas, who resigned on Dec. 6. Van Winkle was elected to the commission on Nov. 5, succeeding Thomas, who was term-limited.
