Police: Man pulls knife, another a hammer while one was collecting ballot signatures in west Colorado Springs

By Lindsey Grewe | KKTV CBS 11 A fight between a person collecting ballot signatures and a citizen landed both men in jail. According to police, the men got in an argument while the first suspect was gathering signatures in a business parking lot near Uintah and 19th Street Monday afternoon. Things quickly escalated from there. “The person gathering signatures pulled a knife and menaced the citizen. First-time candidate Jeff Hurd and state Rep. Gabe Evans, R-Fort Lupton, are among 26 Republican House candidates inducted into the top tier of the campaign support program, which helps candidates who have met fundraising and organizational goals, the NRCC said. House District 22 is now a three-candidate race in El Paso County

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice A third candidate has joined the field in the Colorado House District 22 general election race. The signature petition of Daniel Campaña was certified last week by the secretary of state's office. He submitted 1,253 signatures, of which 1,056 were accepted to clear the minimum requirement of 1,000 valid signatures. Campaña joins the race which already was opposed. Republican Ken DeGraaf, who presently holds the seat, earned 9,538 votes in an unopposed Republican Party primary election. Democrat Michael Pierson collected 4,635 votes in an unopposed Democratic Party primary election. The district lies entirely in El Paso County. One would delay parole eligibility for violent offenders and the other, an amendment to the state constitution would guarantee parents the right to direct their children’s education. Larry Don Suckla wins recount in Colorado House District 58 race

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Larry Don Suckla has been declared the winner of the Colorado House District 58 Republican Party primary election, following a mandatory recount of votes in the race. The three-vote margin in the race did not change following the recount. “The mandatory recount for House District 58 is complete and has confirmed the results of the race with just a three-vote margin,” Secretary of State Jena Griswold said in a statement. “I commend the election workers in the eight counties in House District 58 for conducting this recount.” The recount awarded Suckla with 6,489 votes, a 50.01% margin, three votes ahead of J.
