Dem’s VP hopeful Walz to attend fundraiser in Denver along five-stop, multi-state tour this week

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, named last week by Vice President Kamala Harris as her running mate, will make Denver a destination this week in advance of the Democratic National Convention. It is part of a multi-stop fundraising trip from coast-to-coast, beginning Tuesday in California, where Walz plans to speak to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees at its Los Angeles convention, according to several media reports. Following the stop in California, Walz will appear at Democratic fundraisers in Denver and Boston, Mass., on Wednesday and then will be off to Newport, R.I., and Southampton, N.Y., for two more fundraisers on Thursday, The Washington Times reports. Republican Donald J. Trump just last week visited Aspen ...

Aspen was abuzz for Donald Trump’s visit to attend private fundraiser

By Nate Belt | Fox 31 News Donald Trump made an unlikely visit to the Colorado mountains on Saturday, looking to raise money for his re-election campaign. Aspen resident Michael Quintanilla wasn’t sure exactly what was keeping him from getting to work on Saturday afternoon. “I was stuck in traffic and then I just see police cars and stuff,” he said. He took out his phone to start recording when he figured it out. READ THE FULL STORY AT FOX 31 NEWS

Panel of Colorado lawmakers schedule meeting amid talk of property tax compromise, special session

By Deborah Grigsby | Colorado Politics A panel of Colorado lawmakers tasked with crafting long-term property tax policy is meeting on Monday, potentially laying down the groundwork for a special session amid speculation that parties are negotiating a potential compromise that would pull two initiatives from the November ballot in exchange for deeper reductions to people's tax liabilities. The agenda posted on the state’s legislative website stated that the 19-member Commission on Property Tax will convene to discuss potential changes to legislation that Democrats and Republicans passed just this last session. That measure, the product of a deal reached by Democrats and Republicans, reduced commercial property tax assessment rates and decreased property valuations. The pr...

While other states were lowering taxes, Dem’s VP candidate Walz hit Minnesotans with tax hikes

By Jeff Mordock | The Washington Times During Tim Walz’s tenure as Minnesota’s governor, he has approved more than $10 billion in tax hikes, imposing new taxes on everything from retail deliveries to workers’ earnings, overseeing one of the most dramatic shifts towards higher taxes in the country. Mr. Walz’s big-spending, high-tax policies have led to an anemic economy in Minnesota, which has lagged behind the rest of the nation in economic growth. Average weekly wages in Minnesota rank among the lowest in the country, and population growth has stalled as high-income households flee the state. The tax-and-spend spree makes Mr. Walz an outlier at a time when governors of both parties are slashing state taxes. It also foreshadows the direction Vice President Kama...

Cook Report moves three swing states away from Trump, makes them ‘toss-ups’

By Ryan King | The New York Post The Cook Political Report moved Arizona, Georgia and Nevada away from former President Donald Trump, switching them from “Lean Republican” to “toss-ups” as Vice President Kamala Harris enjoys a polling bump. Last month, the election handicapper shifted those three states toward Trump in the aftermath of President Biden’s brutal debate performance, but now the election dynamic has seemingly reset with Harris at the helm of the Democratic ticket. “Three weeks ago, Donald Trump was leading President Joe Biden in the Cook Political Report national vote tracker by about 2.5%. Today, Kamala Harris leads Trump by less than one point, a shift of more than three points in Harris’ direction,” Cook Political Report’s editor-in-chief Amy Walter explained....

Trump agreeable to meet Harris in debates on ABC, NBC, Fox in September, Trump announces

By Brett Samuels and Dominick Mastrangelo | The Hill Former President Trump during a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort Thursday said he had agreed to three separate debates on three different networks against his new opponent, Vice President Harris. Trump scheduled the press conference as his campaign seeks to make Harris’s access to the media a campaign issue. Trump had previously said he would not take part in a scheduled debate on ABC that was initially set on Sept. 10 between him and President Biden. But ABC in a statement during Trump’s press conference said both he and Harris had agreed to a debate on Sept. 10. The former president on Thursday also said he had proposed debates with Fox News on Sept. 4 and NBC on Sept. 25. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE HI...

Youngkin mandates all paper ballots for presidential elections in Virginia

By Timothy H.J. Nerozzi  | Fox News Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin is ordering all votes for the 2024 presidential election to be cast by paper ballot. Youngkin issued Executive Order 35 on Wednesday, which codifies election security protocols established under his governance for all future elections. "The Virginia model for Election Security works. This isn't a Democrat or Republican issue, it's an American and Virginian issue," Youngkin said in an announcement. "Every legal vote deserves to be counted without being watered down by illegal votes or inaccurate machines. In Virginia, we don’t play games and our model for election security is working." Trump, Harris ramp up ground games in battle for swing states

By Susan Ferrechio | The Washington Times The Trump and Harris campaigns are spending millions of dollars on dueling get-out-the-vote efforts in seven swing states that are most likely to determine the November election. The Harris team recently bragged it has built a huge ground-game advantage in the toss-up states, but the Trump campaign denies it. “That is absolutely false,” Trump campaign spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt said. Harris campaign aides, most of whom come from the now-defunct reelection campaign for President Biden, said they’ve established far more offices and hired many more staffers than Mr. Trump’s team in the critical battleground states including Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona and Nevada. How long could the ballot be? Nine propositions could make ballot, eight others missed ballot

By Marissa Ventrelli | Colorado Politics The deadline for submitting signatures for ballot measures in Colorado was Aug. 5. To qualify for the November ballot, a measure must receive signatures equal to at least 5% of the total votes cast for all Secretary of State candidates in the last election. This year, that's 124,238.  Measures that propose changes to the state Constitution must meet those same requirements and receive signatures from at least 2% of the total registered electors in each of Colorado's 35 Senate districts. Who is Harris’ VP candidate Tim Walz? A far Left radical, Trump campaign says

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice Where does the selection of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz as vice president place a possible Kamala Harris-Walz presidential administration on the political spectrum? It cements it as a far Left, radical ticket, the most radical in the country's history, several sources in the Donald J. Trump presidential campaign said Tuesday. "From proposing his own carbon-free agenda, to suggesting stricter emission standards for gas-powered cars, and embracing policies to allow convicted felons to vote, Walz is obsessed with spreading California’s dangerously liberal agenda far and wide," Karoline Leavitt, the Trump-Vance campaign press secretary, wrote in a statement. Walz is soft on crime and "loves" China, opposition research by the Republican Party indic...
