Colorado’s Political and Regulatory Climate Faces Questions as Major Firms Relocate

By Jon Caldara | Commentary, The Denver Gazette At this point, if you hear beeping downtown, it’s not a construction crew. It’s a company backing out. And look, I get it. Businesses relocate for all sorts of reasons: taxes, regulations, labor costs, office space, crime, commute times, the haunting feeling your chief executive is one City Council meeting away from being declared a single-use plastic. But Colorado’s political class has been turning “headquarters” into an endangered species. Take TIAA, the financial services giant whose name has for decades been glowing atop a downtown Denver skyscraper like a Bat-Signal for retirement funds. They’re relocating to Frisco, Texas. Texas? Of course, Texas. If Colorado is the place where we hold hearings on the carbon ...

Freedom, Our Forgotten Birthright: Dogged Vaccine Rejection Should Stimulate Curiosity

By Brianna Ladapo | Commentary, Embracing the Light Substack Wednesday marked a momentous event that will undoubtedly change the course of history. When Dr. Joseph Ladapo, Florida’s courageous and brilliant Surgeon General (and yes, my wonderful husband) announced Florida’s intention to end all vaccine mandates, it was a pivotal and long-awaited victory for health freedom. At the moment of announcement, the crowd erupted with a liberated jubilance that only manifests when souls have finally broken free of their bondage after years of desperation, determination, and defiance. The wild cheering and applause was deafening, matched only by the sobs of relief and gratitude. It was a truly beautiful moment of divinity, and a welcome harbinger of things to come. However, not everyone is hap...

Republicans win special house elections, expanding slim majority

By Shawn Fleetwood | The Federalist Republican candidates won both special House elections in Florida on Tuesday night, expanding the party’s slim majority in the lower chamber. According to The New York Times, Republican Jimmy Patronis is projected to defeat Democrat Gay Valimont in the Sunshine State’s 1st Congressional District. Located in the Florida Panhandle, the district’s residents overwhelmingly supported President Donald Trump over former Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 election. The seat was left open following the resignation of former Rep. Matt Gaetz, who stepped down after being nominated by Trump to serve as attorney general. Gaetz ultimately withdrew his nomination to the position after facing resistance from several GOP senators reportedly opposed to his ...

Hurricane Milton makes landfall, slamming into Florida with destructive winds, catastrophic storm surge

By Greg Norman , Anders Hagstrom , Bradford Betz , Gabriele Regalbuto , Stepheny Price , Landon Mion  | Fox News More than 3 million people are without power and more than 100 rescue missions are underway Thursday in Florida after Hurricane Milton made landfall near Siesta Key last night as a Category 3 storm, generating tornadoes that left 4 people dead in St. Lucie County. Milton, which is a Category 1 storm at the time of this report, has currently moved off Florida's east coast after lashing the state with destructive winds and dangerous flooding. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that 48 people have been rescued so far and that "hundreds of rescuers [are] engaged in over 125 active missions in 26 different counties" this morning. Wavering Floridians told to get moving as Hurricane Milton closes in

By Simon Kent | Breitbart Just go. That was the message Wednesday morning for Floridians still prepared to defy orders to evacuate ahead of the landfall of Hurricane Milton as officials warned stay-behinds they face grim survival odds. Bumper-to-bumper traffic still chokes roads leading out of Tampa as some 17 percent of Florida’s nearly 8,000 gas stations had run out of fuel, according to fuel markets tracker GasBuddy. The gridlock is so bad from the evacuations in these areas, such as I-75, that the state is opening the shoulders for vehicles to use. AP reports the Tampa Bay area, home to more than 3.3 million people, faced the possibility of widespread destruction after avoiding direct hits from major hurricanes for upwards of 100 years. DeSantis blasts Kamala for Hurricane Milton comments: ‘She has no role in this process’

By Jeff Poor | Breitbart Monday, during an appearance on FNC’s “Hannity,” Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) excoriated Vice President Kamala Harris for injecting herself into his state’s storm preparation as Category 5 Hurricane Milton approaches the Sunshine State. DeSantis was reacting to comments from Harris, who called the Florida governor “selfish” to reporters. “[F]or Kamala Harris, to try to say that my sole focus on the people of Florida is somehow selfish is delusional,” he said. “She has no role in this. In fact she’s been vice president for three-and-a-half years, have dealt with a number of storms under this administration. She has never contributed anything to any of these efforts. So what I think is selfish – trying to blunder into this – know and here’s the thing – she ...

Floridians warned Hurricane Milton ready to explode

By Simon Kent | Breitbart Hurricane Milton is closing on Florida’s west coast with landfall expected as a Category 4 hurricane Wednesday night or early Thursday morning as a mass exodus continues. The extreme weather event will arrive as Floridians still work to recover from the devastation unleashed by Hurricane Helene’s impact 12 days ago. AP reports almost the entirety of Florida’s west coast was under a hurricane warning early Tuesday as the storm and its 155 mph winds crept toward the state at nine mph, drawing energy from the Gulf of Mexico’s warm water. In its 1 a.m. CDT Tuesday update, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) placed Milton just north of the Yucatan Peninsula and about 585 miles southwest of Tampa. READ THE FULL STORY AT BREITBART

Tropical Storm Milton hits hurricane force as it bears down on Florida with mass evacuations predicted

By Simon Kent | Breitbart Storm Milton strengthened from a major tropical disturbance into a Category 3 hurricane early on Monday morning, increasing the threat to Florida’s west coast, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) said in a special alert. The state is now gearing up for what could be its biggest mass evacuation in seven years as the rain-sodden behemoth heads toward major population centers including Tampa and Orlando. “While it is too soon to specify the exact magnitude and location of the greatest impacts, there is an increasing risk of life-threatening storm surge and damaging winds for portions of the west coast of the Florida Peninsula beginning Tuesday night or early Wednesday,” the NHC said in a forecast discussion. The NHC also warned of “5 to 8 inches” of rainf...
