The Trump administration will be mobilizing 1,700 National Guard troops in 19 states across the country as part of a wider crackdown on crime as well as illegal immigration.
Plans for action are set to take place in Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Louisiana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Ohio, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, and Wyoming. The troops will be active in the states from August through mid-November, according to documents obtained by Fox News.
The presence of the National Guard troops in the states will serve as a visual deterrent against crime will help in a sweeping effort to handle case management in the processing of illegal immigrants.
“The in-and-out processing may include personal data collection, fingerprinting, DNA swabbing and photographing of personnel in ICE custody,” the official told reporters.
