Texas GOP Voters Send Cornyn Packing in Landslide Win for Paxton

By George Caldwell | Daily Signal Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton defeated incumbent Republican Sen. John Cornyn in the state’s primary runoff Tuesday, adding to President Donald Trump’s hot streak of unseating those he considers insufficiently loyal and ending Cornyn’s multi-decade career in the Senate. The Associated Press declared Paxton the victor at 9 p.m. EDT, when he held a 25 point lead over Cornyn. Paxton had secured 62.5% of the vote to Cornyn’s 37.5%. In his victory speech, Paxton credited his victory to Trump and pledged to work with him. “When everyone in Washington told him to abandon me and abandon the people of Texas, he didn’t listen,” Paxton said of Trump. Paxton added, “Instead, he gave me his complete and total endorsement....

Texas Children’s Hospital Settlement Signals Shift in Youth Gender Care Debate

By Joshua Arnold | The Daily Signal THE WASHINGTON STAND—The U.S. Department of Justice on Friday announced a settlement with Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) in which the hospital not only committed to never again carry out gender transition procedures on minors, but also agreed to open the nation’s first detransitioner clinic and fully fund it for five years. TCH gained notoriety in 2023 when a whistleblower provided evidence that the hospital continued to secretly administer gender transition hormones to minors, even after the Texas legislature had made it illegal. “Today’s resolution protects vulnerable children, holds providers accountable, and ensures those harmed receive the care they need,” said Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche....

Colorado’s Political and Regulatory Climate Faces Questions as Major Firms Relocate

By Jon Caldara | Commentary, The Denver Gazette At this point, if you hear beeping downtown, it’s not a construction crew. It’s a company backing out. And look, I get it. Businesses relocate for all sorts of reasons: taxes, regulations, labor costs, office space, crime, commute times, the haunting feeling your chief executive is one City Council meeting away from being declared a single-use plastic. But Colorado’s political class has been turning “headquarters” into an endangered species. Take TIAA, the financial services giant whose name has for decades been glowing atop a downtown Denver skyscraper like a Bat-Signal for retirement funds. They’re relocating to Frisco, Texas. Texas? Of course, Texas. If Colorado is the place where we hold hearings on the carbon ...

Rio Grande crisis leaves farmers desperate and states divided

By Susan Montoya Bryan, Morgan Lee | The Associated Press via Fortune A simmering feud over management of one of North America’s longest rivers reached a boiling point when the U.S. Supreme Court sent western states and the federal government back to the negotiating table last year. Now the battle over waters of the Rio Grande could be nearing resolution as New Mexico, Texas and Colorado announced fresh settlement proposals Friday designed to rein in groundwater pumping along the river in New Mexico and ensure enough river water reliably makes it to Texas. New Mexico officials say the agreements allow water conservation decisions to be made locally while avoiding a doomsday scenario of billion-dollar payouts on water shortfalls. Farmers in southern New Mexico increasingly have...

by Maddie Biertempfel | KDVR FOX 31 WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – The redistricting fight continues in Texas, as State House Democrats remain out-of-state for a second week in a row.  “A quorum is not present,” Texas House Speaker Dustin Burrows said Monday before the body adjourned.  More than 50 Democrats have fled Texas, and there aren’t enough lawmakers left to vote.  “We intend to kill the first called special session,” State Rep. Mihaela Plesa (D-Texas.) said.  A group of those Democrats joined Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin in Chicago Monday.  “It isn’t just a Texas issue. This is an American issue. An issue as to whether or not there’s due process and fairness in our politics,” Sen. Durbin said.  READ THE COMPLETE STORY AT KDVR FOX 31...

AG Paxton: Texas investigation into ActBlue uncovers suspicious donations
