Trump HHS Yanks $60,000,000 In Federal Funding From Harvard

By Emily Kopp | Daily Caller The Department of Health and Human Services has canceled another $60 million in grants to Harvard University in the latest strike by the Trump administration against the Ivy League school. The termination of $60 million in Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-related funding was relayed in a May 19 letter obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation. Harvard has seen nearly $3 billion in federal grants and contracts frozen or canceled. Harvard gets more bad news from Trump Admin amid funding fight

By  Leif Le Mahieu | Daily Wire Education Secretary Linda McMahon told Harvard University in a letter on Monday that it would no longer be eligible for new federal grants, saying that it has systematically violated federal law. McMahon’s letter to Harvard President Alan Garber comes after the Trump administration has frozen more than $2 billion in federal dollars to the university over DEI and its handling of anti-Israel protests. President Donald Trump last week said that Harvard would lose its tax-exempt status. “Harvard University has made a mockery of this country’s higher education system. It has invited foreign students, who engage in violent behavior and show contempt for the United States of America, to its campus,” McMahon wrote. “In every way, Harvard has failed to ...

Trump Administration freezes $2 billion after Harvard refuses to meet demands

By James Lynch | National Review The Trump administration is freezing over $2 billion in federal funds to Harvard University, hours after the Ivy League school indicated it rejected the federal government's demands for various policy reforms intended to restore ideological balance on campus. The multi-agency Joint Task Force to Combat Antisemitism announced on Monday evening it would freeze Harvard's $2.2 billion in multiyear grants and a $60 million contract. "Harvard’s statement today reinforces the troubling entitlement mindset that is endemic in our nation's most prestigious universities and colleges – that federal investment does not come with the responsibility to uphold civil rights laws," the task force said ... The poison Ivy League: How taxpayers subsidize wealthy universities

By Jay Greene, PhD | Heritage Foundation The federal government provides enormous subsidies to the wealthiest universities in the country. People may imagine that the bulk of these subsidies assist low-income students in covering the high and rising costs of attending these universities, but that is not what the federal government primarily funds. The largest type of subsidy that wealthy universities receive is in the form of payments for overhead costs on federal research grants. During fiscal year (FY) 2022, Ivy League universities received $1.8 billion for overhead on government-funded research grants. That represents 84 percent of the total amount of government subsidy those universities received. Research grants are not subsidies, because every dollar received has to be sp...
