Rep. Crank’s BLOC Act gains Mesa County’s support: “Align federal funds with public safety”

By Jen Schumann | Contributing Writer, Rocky Mountain Voice Mesa County commissioners want federal dollars tied to immigration enforcement—and they’re backing Rep. Jeff Crank’s bill to make it happen. During their April 15 administrative hearing, the Mesa County Board of Commissioners voted to approve a letter backing a federal immigration bill that would strip transportation funding from sanctuary jurisdictions that fail to cooperate with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The letter, addressed to U.S. Rep. Jeff Crank, voiced support for H.R. 1984—the Blocking Lawless Open Border Cities (BLOC) Act. The bill halts funding of federal transportation dollars going to cities and counties that refuse to notify ICE at least 48 hours before they release an illegal immigrant. Rep. ...

Immigrant protection bill passes committee, limits law enforcement cooperation with feds

By Gabrielle Franklin | Fox31 DENVER (KDVR) — A bill meant to better protect immigrants under Colorado law passed through a Colorado Senate committee Tuesday. Supporters of the bill say it looks to ensure everyone’s civil rights are protected regardless of immigration status, while opponents argue it further prohibits the state from helping federal agents. “Fear is contagious, isolating and destructive. We’ve seen President Trump weaponize fear time and time again against immigrants. Donald Trump’s ICE agents say one thing and then they do another,” said state Senator Julie Gonzales when talking about who the administration is targeting for deportations through Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. A newly introduced bill at the state capitol covers a lot of ter...

The suspects, all Colombian nationals, each were charged with criminal attempt to commit second-degree burglary and conspiracy to commit second-degree burglary, but the charges still could be changed or modified, Eric Ross, spokesperson for the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s office, said. They are being held in an Immigrant and Customs Enforcement detention facility. The suspects are accused of robbing 21 Aurora homes by placing cameras around victims’ houses and trackers in their cars, following and watching them, and then using WiFi signal jamming technology to bypass alarm systems, according to Joe Moylan, Au...

Courtroom clash: Activist claims retaliation, ICE cites years of evasion

By Jasmine Arenas | CBS Colorado A lawyer representing Colorado immigrants' rights activist Jeanette Vizguerra claims Vizguerra's 1st Amendment Rights are being abridged by her detainment. They argue that her detention was retaliatory, linked to her criticism of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and her activism. As a result, a court hearing scheduled for Friday was canceled, and U.S. District Judge Nina Wang instead set a status conference. The allegations came as the status conference unfolded. Vizguerra's counsel and the US Attorney have been preparing to argue over the legality of Vizguerra's detainment by ICE authorities since March 17. "This isn't about making America safer or making our borders more secure. This is about chaos," said Vizguerra's attorney, Laura Lichter. "...

The agreement "would allow immigration officials to use tax data to support the Trump administration's deportation plan", according to our mother network. News of the potential agreement comes less than one month until Tax Day, April 15. READ THE FULL STORY AT DENVER7

By Audrey Fahlberg | National Review The Department Government Efficiency’s (DOGE) cost-cutting efforts have roiled Washington in recent weeks, but according to President Donald Trump's border czar, Tom Homan, Elon Musk is committed to growing, rather than shrinking, at least one part of the federal government: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). “I talked to Elon Musk yesterday, he's trying to help us hire more agents,” Homan told National Review in a wide-ranging interview on Saturday at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in Oxon Hill, Md. “I’ve actually talked to him about how to create efficiencies in the recruiting process and the ...
