Colorado man sentenced to 7 years for trafficking women across state lines

By Heather Willard | Fox 31 DENVER (KDVR) — A 41-year-old man will spend seven years in federal prison after he recruited two victims to work for him as prostitutes and transported them between states. Walter Conwell, 41, was sentenced on Aug. 21 to seven years in federal prison, followed by eight years of supervised release, after he pleaded guilty to two counts of interstate transportation of an individual for prostitution. Teens arrested in Colorado Springs for stolen car and fentanyl possession

By Brianna Leonard | KKTV 11 COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - Two teenage suspects are facing several charges after a motor vehicle theft investigation. According to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD), officers were investigating a stolen green 2017 Subaru on Monday. CSPD’s motor vehicle theft unit identified Carmine Frey, 18, as the driver of the vehicle. Detectives initiated a traffic stop with a marked vehicle; however, police said Frey quickly drove off. Detectives reportedly saw Frey wearing a black mask while driving away. Detectives later detained Frey in the area of North Circle Drive and Galley Road. Emergency services remained open, but many state-run websites and offices were closed Wednesday. The state said it “identified a network security incident” Sunday morning, but did not publicly address the issue until a Tuesday evening memo. In it, the Office of the Governor said it and the Governor’s Technology Office were working around the clock to restore state services. (KXRM) — Pueblo County Coroner Brian Cotter has resigned just over a week after the discovery of at least 24 bodies stored improperly at the mortuary he co-owned, Davis Mortuary. In a letter released by the Pueblo County Board of County Commissioners, Cotter’s legal counsel explained that Cotter was “hospitalized for a cardiac event” following the discovery during the Department of Regulatory Agencies’ inspection on Aug. 20. Numerous state and local officials have called for Cotter to resign, including Colorado Governor Jared Polis. The estimated number of illegal aliens living in Colorado jumped from 160,000 in 2021 to more than 200,000 by 2023, according to the latest report by Pew Research Center. The largest number of those illegals ended up in and around Denver, the paper reported. The number has jumped even more in the years covered by the Pew report, according to the Denver News Gazette.
