Critics Say Thune Not Using All Tools To Advance The Save America Act

By Brianna Lyman | The Federalist Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., said Tuesday “We don’t have the votes to get rid of the filibuster” as his defense for why he won’t get the SAVE America Act passed. Lucky for Thune, he doesn’t need to “get rid of the filibuster” to pass the SAVE America Act, but he already knows that — he just doesn’t want to pass the legislation at all. The Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act would amend the 1993 National Voter Registration Act by requiring documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote and voter ID to cast a ballot. While noncitizen voting is already illegal, the only thing standing between a noncitizen and our free and fair elections is a tiny square box on the federal registration form requiring app...

Critics Question Why States Share Voter Data With Leftist Groups But Not DHS

By: Breccan F. Thies | Commentary, The Federalist ERIC has 25 member states and the District of Columbia — only three are run by Republicans. Each of the Democrat-run states has senators arguing against passing the SAVE America Act. Democrat senators claim it is an unconstitutional invasion of privacy that the SAVE America Act requires states to share voter rolls and requisite identifying information with the federal government in order to check for noncitizens, but many of their states already share the same data with left-wing third party organizations. Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., argued against the bill on the Senate floor, stating, “States would be required to report their full voter rolls to Department of Homeland Security and certify that there are no non-citi...

Senate Democrats Reject Voter ID Amendment Despite Prior Support

By Brianna Lyman | The Federalist Forty-seven Democrats voted against a photo ID amendment on Thursday despite Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer previously claiming that he was supportive of photo ID. Sen. Jon Husted (R-OH) introduced an amendment to the Safeguarding American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) America Act that would simply require photo ID to vote. Acceptable forms of ID include an unexpired driver’s license with a photo, a valid passport, a military ID, an unexpired state-ID card, among others. The measure needed 60 votes to pass but only received 53 “AYE’s.” Schumer claimed the amendment would “impose the single strictest voter ID law in America.” “This radical amendment would toss out every single voter ID requirement in all 50 states for fed...

From bill to emergency order: The election fight moves beyond Congress

By Jen Schumann | Rocky Mountain Voice Senate Republicans opened debate Tuesday on a bill they say will secure American elections. But inside that same fight, a second path is already taking shape—one that doesn’t run through Congress at all. While lawmakers argue over the SAVE America Act and whether it can survive a Senate filibuster, some election-integrity advocates are pushing something far more aggressive: a proposed emergency order that would allow a president to step in and change how federal elections are run. RMV obtained a copy of that proposal—and spoke with one of the men now advocating for it. What’s emerging is not just a policy disagreement. It’s a split in approach. Congress is trying to answer the question through legislation. Others are asking wh...

Minnesota Elections Official Acknowledges Noncitizens Could Cast Ballots Under Current Process

By Joseph Chalfant | Townhall We have been told for years that there is no need for stricter identification requirements in American elections. The Left has claimed that our elections are secured, and that the Right has simply lied about the issue, or they want to put up restrictions on women or minorities voting by instituting measures to prove citizens and identity before casting a ballot. When put on the record, it seems that those on the Left are finally telling the truth about the matter: illegals are easily able to vote in American elections. https://twitter.com/EricLDaugh/status/2033166704402944392?s=20 READ THE FULL ARTICLE AT TOWNHALL

The SAVE Act’s strangest gift: it is making Democrats talk like noncitizen voting is real

By C. J. Garbo | Guest Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice For years, the Right has argued something simple: elections should be provably secure, not merely “trusted” by tradition, good intentions, or bureaucratic assurances. If only citizens may vote in federal elections, then citizen-only voting should be easy to verify, hard to fake, and consistently enforced. Enter the SAVE Act and its successor branding, the “SAVE America Act.” Its core idea is straightforward: require documentary proof of citizenship at registration, and in the newer version, pair that with a photo ID standard for voting. The Left’s reaction has been immediate and near-uniform: not “sure, citizenship verification is fine,” but “this is Jim Crow,” “voter suppression,” “a solution in search of a problem,” an...

FBI Affidavit Alleges Illegal Immigrant Voted In Five Presidential Elections Despite Deportation Order

By: Maisey Jefferson | The Federalist A noncitizen illegally present in the U.S. allegedly cast ballots in five presidential elections and falsely claimed to be a citizen when registering to vote, according to a document recently filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. An affidavit by FBI Special Agent Mickel McGann reveals that Mauritanian national Mahady Sacko was ordered to be deported in 2000. Since this removal order, however, records show Sacko voted in general elections in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020, as well as the 2024 election for federal office, McGann said. Sacko also voted in the 2016 and 2020 primaries and, on each of the seven occasions, “falsely represented that he was a U.S. citizen,” according to the affidavit. M...

Nearly 29% Of Federal Voter Verifications Submitted Through SSA Return No Match

By Jim Hoft | The Gateway Pundit Since 2004, the Social Security Administration has provided a simple process to help States with verifying voter applications. It’s called the HAVV System. States send in the name, DOB, and last four digits of the voter’s SSN. The SSA then notifies the State if that person is deceased, alive, matches SSA records, or No Match Found! A whopping 13% of all HAVV verifications processed in 2025 came back as NO MATCH. That’s 318,217 of the 2.37 million submitted. Since 2011, an astounding 28.8% of all HAVV submissions have come back as NO MATCH. For the past 15 years, the federal government (SSA) has been unable to match 28.1 million voter submissions from States, to the information in its comprehensive computer systems. The Feds have...

Why a voter ID filibuster could become a 24/7 GOP campaign ad

By Rachel Bovard | Commentary, The Federalist What if I told you Senate Majority Leader John Thune, R-S.D., has the power and the votes — right now — to save Republicans’ congressional majorities, President Trump’s second-term agenda, and may be the republic itself, all while poleaxing Democrats on the short side of an 84-15 issue? It sounds like fantasy. But like the Lady of the Lake from Arthurian legend, 2026 is offering up to the GOP a political weapon almost as powerful as Excalibur itself: an extended Democrat talking filibuster of national voter ID legislation. Popular Idea, Toxic Opposition Requiring voters to prove their citizenship is one of the most popular ideas in the country, with 84 percent of Americans supporting and only 15 percent opposed....

SAVE Act Gains Momentum as GOP Pushes Citizenship Verification to Vote

By Nicholas Ballasy | Just the News Republican Sens. Katie Britt of Alabama and Dave McCormick of Pennsylvania announced they are now cosponsoring the legislation, which was introduced by GOP Sens. Mike Lee of Utah and Rick Scott of Florida, last year. Two Senate Republicans on Wednesday rallied behind the House-passed Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, which would require documentary proof of U.S. citizenship when registering to vote for federal elections. The new push comes amid pressure from conservative figures, including Elon Musk, and as the Trump administration pushes states to clean up their voter rolls to eliminate potentially illegal voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.  Republican Sens.&nb...
