Jeffco Schools Challenge Federal Title IX Findings Amid Data Dispute

By Anna Alejo | CBS Colorado Jeffco Public Schools is disputing a U.S. Department of Education conclusion that the school district is violating Title IX, asking federal officials for a meeting and more details on their findings as a 30-day deadline for response arrived on Monday. The department's Office for Civil Rights determined that 61 male students were competing on girls' sports teams in the district — a finding Jeffco says contradicts data it originally submitted to investigators after the OCR began its investigation of Jeffco in June 2025. "During this review, we requested clarification on several findings that appear to contradict the data we originally provided — discrepancies that directly impact two of the OCR's three proposed actions," the district said in ...

Federal civil rights office finds Jeffco schools violated Title IX, gives district 10 days to comply

By Jen Schumann | Rocky Mountain Voice Girls in Jefferson County Public Schools have been sharing bathrooms, locker rooms, overnight accommodations and sports rosters with male students—and the federal government just said that has to stop. The feds ruled Friday that Jeffco violated Title IX. Colorado’s second-largest school district, serving 74,200 students, has 10 days to comply or face enforcement action—including potential loss of federal funding.  OCR received athletic rosters directly from Jeffco confirming that male students occupy 61 positions on girls' sports teams across the district. Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights Kimberly Richey said the investigation found the district violated Title IX protections for female students. "Today's findings reveal sweeping ...

By Jen Schumann | Rocky Mountain Voice More than half a million signatures were gathered and delivered with a single stated aim, placing before Colorado voters a set of measures supporters say are designed to protect children. Protect Kids Colorado (PKC) says it submitted more than 170,000 signatures for Proposition 109, formally titled the “Protect Women and Girls Sports Act.” The filed text would require school-sponsored athletic teams to be expressly designated as male, female or coeducational, and would prohibit male students from participating on teams reserved for “females, women or girls.” For Proposition 110, the group reported more than 164,000 signatures. That measure would prohibit a health-care professional from performing surgery on a minor “for the purpos...

Supreme Court Takes Up Cases That Could Redefine Women’s Sports

By Stacy Robinson, Sam Dorman | The Epoch Times The court is set to consider the legality of two state laws that ban males who identify as transgender from participating in girls’ sports. Selina Soule was a high school track and field champion in Connecticut, holding multiple state conference titles and school records. But when male athletes who identified as transgender started competing against her, Soule said her prospects of winning diminished. “It didn’t matter how much time I put in, in practice; how much extra effort I put in. There was nothing I could do to win the race,” Soule, who graduated from Glastonbury High School in 2020, told The Epoch Times. Soule’s sentiments have been common in the ongoing national debate surrounding males competing ...
