(KDVR) — Students at Evergreen High School are taking their first careful steps back onto campus just over two weeks after a shooting that left the community shaken. Senior Sylvia Howell said the return will be filled with hugs, tears and a shared sense of healing. “I think there’s going to be a lot of hugs, maybe some tears, which has been kind of the story of the last few weeks,” Howell said. By: Spencer Kristensen, Brooke Williams | FOX31 Denver DENVER (KDVR) — On Wednesday morning, Jeffco Public Schools and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office released a joint statement addressing the community’s questions about the School Resource Officer program. “Our commitment to safety and security in Jeffco schools is unwavering,” Superintendent Tracy Dorland said in a press release. “Jeffco Public Schools does not employ SROs. Instead, through intergovernmental agreements, our local law enforcement partners, like JCSO, provide SROs to serve in our schools and our district now pays for half of this cost. (KDVR) — The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office says a full-time school resource officer will be assigned to Evergreen High School when students return to that campus after a school shooting there. The Evergreen Parent-Teachers-Students Association had been hoping for a full-time officer. “I understand they may not be able to prevent a tragedy, but we need to have some deterrents in place. Georgia school received early warning about shooter before attack

By Maddie Rhodes | New York Post The mother of Georgia school shooting suspect Colt Gray claimed that teachers had noticed her son was making references to violence at the school — even before she called to warn administrators about him. “The counselor said, ‘I wanted to let you know that earlier this morning, one of Colt’s teachers had sent me an email saying Colt had been making references to school shootings,'” Marcee Gray told ABC News in a video interview from her home. “Between my gut feelings, the text messages, and now this email, you need to, like, run to the classroom,” she said.
