This is the moment we get real about standing up for women and girls. Academy D-20’s Board of Education voted unanimously to adopt a resolution to direct the district to draft and implement a policy classifying access to locker rooms, restrooms and athletic participation as being based on biological sex during a special meeting June 17. A high school student named Sadie, who spoke against the policy, asked why her district would need a blanket policy when a tiny percentage of student athletes are transgender. A 60-year-old man who supported the policy and described himself as stronger than any woman in the building claimed a transgender girl could slam a ball into a girl’s head hard enough to put her in the hospital.
