Douglas County School Board Weighs Return To Collective Bargaining

The Douglas County school board discussed the Douglas County Federation’s request for collective bargaining on Tuesday.

Board members provided an update, saying that, since the DCF made a formal request in April, the board has consulted legal counsel. Board members said they believe additional legal expertise is needed.

Director Tony Ryan said that in 2012, a previous board passed a resolution stating that negotiations with the DCF would end. However, the board did not revoke the DCF’s recognition.

Director Brad Geiger said the board is seeking additional legal expertise to better understand the legal framework and gain clarity on a path forward should the board decide to pursue a collective bargaining agreement.
