Package addressed to secretary of state, containing white powder substance, under investigation

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice A package containing white powder addressed to the Colorado Secretary of State's office has been intercepted at a state mail facility. The package included a return address of “U.S. Traitor Elimination Army.” Similar packages have been received by several secretaries of state, first reported Tuesday, Sept. 17, the Colorado Secretary of State's office noted in a press release. Investigations by the FBI, U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Colorado State Patrol preliminarily indicate the powder included in the package is harmless. Often, investigations of such packages are found to be gypsum, a harmless white mineral common to chalk, drywall and plaster. “We cannot tolerate threats to election officials and public servants," said Colorado Sec...

Devotional: Accountability? The buck really stops with you

By Drake Hunter | Commentary, Rocky Mountain Voice When discussing accountability as leaders, we often think about who’s accountable to us. But, hold up a second. What about you? Do you hold yourself accountable to life’s goodness, navigating it with integrity and grace? Or are you on a power trip, unsure of what accountability means? Let’s face it, many people confuse accountability with responsibility, or worse, they think it’s about being in tune with their feelings, intuitions and desires. Well, that’s part of it, but let’s break it down. Accountability is much deeper and is the secret sauce to living a meaningful and peaceful life. Yes, both. Here’s a powerful truth: life takes on a new dimension when you realize that the ultimate responsibility always rests with you. Pros...

Second wave of Hezbollah radio devices detonates, hundreds injured

By John Hayward | Breitbart The day after thousands of Hezbollah terror suspects were injured, and reportedly a dozen people killed, by their pagers almost simultaneously exploding, Lebanese and Iranian media reported a second wave of radio device detonations. The second wave appears to involve two-way radio devices, such as walkie-talkies. At least one of these explosions was reported near the funeral of a Hezbollah operative killed by the Tuesday pager explosions. “We came out to try and find out what the sound was and people were running. People were covered in blood,” said Sky News correspondent Alex Crawford, who was in attendance at the funeral. READ THE FULL STORY AT BREITBART

Conifer councilman charged in altercation in which teen was allegedly shot in face

By Austen Erblat, Alan Gionet | CBS Colorado Brent Metz, the Colorado town councilman accused of shooting a 17-year-old boy in the face last week, has been formally charged. Metz is accused of shooting the teen who, along with his friend, say they hopped a fence to knock on a Conifer property owner's door to get permission to take high school homecoming photos. When it appeared no one was home, they went back to their car on the side of the road to write a note for the property owner. According to an arrest report, Metz pulled up in his truck, pulled a handgun and shot the 17-year-old through the windshield of his Audi. READ THE FULL STORY AT CBS COLORADO

Anti-Israel protester interrupts Ted Cruz at committee hearing on hate crimes

By James Lynch | National Review An angry anti-Israel demonstrator on Tuesday interrupted Senator Ted Cruz during a committee hearing on hate crimes and profanely questioned why the Texas Republican was spending his speaking time on antisemitism. Cruz spoke at the Senate Judiciary Committee’s hearing on hate crimes and was criticizing Democratic committee members for refusing to hold a hearing solely focused on antisemitism when a protester began shouting over him. “Every Republican member of this committee asked the chairman to hold a hearing on antisemitism in February, and yet, we don’t get a hearing on antisemitism. We get a hearing generically on hate, because this administration — and this is the kind of anger and hate that is encouraged,” Cruz said, as the man beg...

Denver’s Initiative 309 slaughterhouse ban impacts national lamb supply chain

By Lindy Browning | Contributor, Rocky Mountain Voice  As J Paul Brown of Ignacio, Colo., gets ready to bring his sheep back to the lowlands for the fall roundup, he contemplates the impact of Denver’s Initiative 309, which singles out the largest lamb processing plant in Colorado for closure.  He worries that, if passed, the state has, yet again, compromised the domestic food chain.  Superior Farms has been singled out by this ballot initiative for closure after an animal rights activist group, Pro-Animal Future, championed the initiative.  Superior Farms has been in business since its founding in 1964 and is a 100 percent employee owned facility that currently employs upwards of 170 direct employees.  “I find it so ironic that the very same people, who support loc...

Optics were more important to Biden-Harris Administration than protecting Afghanistan 13, Rep. Lopez says

By BRIAN PORTER | Rocky Mountain Voice As America paused on 9/11 last week to remember those lost in terrorist attacks on New York City, U.S. Rep. Greg Lopez went to the floor of the U.S. House to address the country's exit from the resulting war in Afghanistan. "President [Joe] Biden and Vice President [Kamala] Harris fled a country we freed for two decades, left in the grasp of merciless terrorists," said Lopez, who represents Colorado's 4th District in the U.S. House. "Why did we have to lose 13 brave service members? We didn't." He levied blame for the "catastrophic exit" from Afghanistan on the leadership of Biden-Harris. "We lost them because there was no real plan on how to get out of Afghanistan," Lopez said. "Any real, true commander-in-chief would know that you must p...

In order to help farmers survive drought, pests and market changes, improving the soil may be key

By Shannon Mullane | The Colorado Sun In southwestern Colorado, Greg Vlaming crouched down to look at dying remains of an oat crop baking under the July sun. It wasn’t just a dead plant — it was armor, he said.  “This minimizes wind erosion and surface runoff,” said Vlaming, a soil scientist, consultant and farmer. “Water can’t run off on something that’s like this.” Vlaming is working alongside the state, researchers, farmers and ranchers on a newly expanded soil health program established by the Colorado legislature in 2021. The goal of the program is to nurture soils in order to reap rewards — like more efficient irrigation, more carbon storage and healthier crops.  READ THE FULL STORY AT THE COLORADO SUN

Court watchers blame Supreme Court’s liberal wing for latest leak

By Olivia Prentzel | The Daily Caller The latest leaks about the Supreme Court’s internal deliberations on three major cases involving former President Donald Trump could be coming from a high level member of the minority, former clerks and long time court observers told the Daily Caller News Foundation. Drawing on “details from the justices’ private memos, documentation of the proceedings and interviews with court insiders, both conservative and liberal,” a Sunday report published by The New York Times offered a window into the the justices’ decision making process on three major cases, including Trump v. United States, where the Supreme Court held former presidents are immune from prosecution for official acts taken in office. The report mainly targets Chief Jus...

Bomb threats used by media to excuse second Trump assassination attempt have no ‘validity at all’

By Fred Lucas | The Federalist Within hours of the second assassination attempt against former President Donald Trump on Sunday, NBC News’ Lester Holt tried to excuse the political violence by linking Trump to unsubstantiated bomb threats in Springfield, Ohio. “Today’s apparent assassination attempt comes amid increasingly fierce rhetoric on the campaign trail itself,” Holt said. “Mr. Trump, his running mate JD Vance, continue to make baseless claims about Haitian immigrants in [Springfield] Ohio. This weekend, there were new bomb threats in that town.” But Republican Gov. Mike DeWine confirmed Monday that all 33 bomb threats were hoaxes. READ THE FULL STORY AT THE FEDERALIST
